Where did you get the idea that it is what most people want?

PoE1 forums are riddled with threads that show dislike for the 1-skill spam forced playstyle.

I'd argue that there are many people that also like slower combat where you actually interact with enemies instead of instantly exploding them.

Problem is that PoE2 is not balanced for such combat yet. It is "undercooked" because it is hard to design/develop and balance.

PoE 2 combat has the potential to be amazing, but some decisions regarding loot drops, support/skill gems and other basic stuff like defenses is what makes it bad.

People confuse balance with design here.


In the end, it doesn't matter how many like the zoom-zoom and how many like the slow-paced gameplay, because neither is satisfied with PoE2.

And so far, GGG has only shown that they don't even understand the slightest how to make the "meaningful" combat work.
It's beyond my comprehension how they are unable to get it...
If your character does not have enough time to take action/react to the enemies he is facing - you don't nerf the builds that are zooming, THAT'S balancing you can do much later - instead, you NERF enemies.
Bring their "Action Speed" down until it feels good to deal with them with the slow-paced characters.

Putting countless dashes, jumps, teleports, charges, rolls, slams and so on in the game for enemies to close the gap in 1 second counters the "meaningful" combo combat too.
You fix and adjust the interactions (gameplay) and then the numbers (balance).
And GGG does the opposite. They don't improve the gameplay, but try to make it work with numerical changes that don't even make sense.

Even if the parry, bippity boppity, slippin around slow meaningful combat works, what makes anyone think that its sustainable in the long term? You're going to attract transients who enjoy the game for a month and move on to something different. People wanting to spend thousands of hours playing this game are not going to want to do this indefinitely. Thats the clientele of a game like this, and ignoring that fact is basically suicide. Game needs to be dialed in with this in mind.

When people asked for slower gameplay they meant less than 7 attacks per second.

PoE1 is on another level of speed.

You can have fast enough gamplay that lets you use more than 1 or 2 skills.

There definitely is a middle ground that can be achieved here. Whether or not they will be able to do that idk.

No one ever asked for Dark Souls level of "slow"

I think campaign is a good base to set the pace. Something moderately faster than campaig pace will already be a lot slower than PoE1 without being extremely slow.

And you know about it damn well.

Sure, you gave the kids a candy, obviously, the candy is spoiling them way too much. Now you are worried that if you take the candy back, the kids will start rampaging, crying and twisting.
As a good parent, you got to take this, take the candy, talk to the kids and have the patience to let them grow up.

You also need to learn, as a good parent, to not spoil them with such candies again and keep the damn game balanced and meaningful.

Why not just buff everything else? With the abysmal drop rates the lightning spear is one of the VERY FEW FUN things in this league. If they're going to keep drops at abysmal levels then everyone needs to be able to clear the screen.

The reward system in this game is completely borked right now. It's boring, it's grindy, crafting is non-existent, spammers galore ...

Rather than rip apart one of the few highlights of the league GGG should take stock and improve the game and classes. They nerfed the hell out of things that didn't need a nerf.


Edit: GGG has the recipe for the most epic ARPG ever -- very methodical and dangerous boss fights with the thrill of crazy clear but they keep getting in their own way.

Cause quick clears are how the vast majority of people WANT to play.
The majority of players want to play the most efficient thing. That doesn't necessarily mean quick clear. It's a human thing to do, even in complete single player games, to optimize the fun out because our brains are wired to be seeking resources.

If one build can wipe out entire screens, that's what most people will pick not necessarily because that's what they want to play, but because that's the most efficient way to play in a competitive environment (trade). PoE 2 is perhaps the most successful ARPG with the highest player retention after league start despite being slow, so I'd say the vast majority doesn't want to play screen clear, because the market is already oversaturated with games that offer screen clear.
Yeah, nerf the best skill and basically delete builds of thousands of people, who put their time and currency into them. Just because some nerfed ascendancy enjoyer could feel better.
GGG already make perfect PR campaign for LE release and are losing in player count. If they nerf the only good gem of this otherwise pointless 0.2.0 update, LE will soon have 3x times more concurrent players then PoE2.

You should be asking for buffs for other skills and archetypes, not for dragging LS into the same boring mud where the most of them are now.

yes so tired of Lightning spear, it's a joke and casters are forced to play it as well, nerf it just a little bit, but BUFF THE OTHER NERFED ASCENDANCIES!

Just rolled a deadeye and he's just clearing screens where I was sweating ba11s on my stormweaver.
My Deadeye feels super tanky compared to much better geared stormweaver, like wth!

Stormweaver is joke it's so obscenely bad.
Revert all the nerfs including mana on gear, except maybe keep the current nerf on how much DPS extra you get for mana stacking.
