Only 70k players for poe1 with new 'league'

Everyone saying poe1 is better but t hey can only muster up 70k players with new content being released. poe2 is still beating it.

So yeah. They made the right decision. They should focus on poe2.

To be fair, it did reach a peak of 91k today on Steam while PoE2 peaked at (an almost saddening drop to) 87k, and it's a Thursday, not the weekend. I also think there are several more players playing on the standalone client for PoE1 so it's perhaps a bit unfair to say the number of players makes it not worth it.

I'm not too fond of the fact that it seems 0.2.0 is purposely delayed until the end of this event either, nor am I very interested in playing PoE1 anymore, but I can recognize that it got a reasonably good number of players for something released on a Thursday, crunched together in a very short period of time. More players than I expected quite honestly. At least I get a cape MTX as a drop from having a Twitch stream on in the background.

Tomorrow and Saturday is probably a better indication for how hyped this event is for players, even though we can't really see (to my knowledge) the numbers including standalone client, so it's a bit unfair to compare it to PoE2 where it seems the larger majority is playing on the easy-to-track-concurrent-players-on Steam client.

except this BS event is NOT A NEW LEAGUE ...

its frankly baffling how many people turned up for this nonsense proving more that they are STARVED for actual PoE1 content if anything

also the peak was 92k while PoE2 peaked at mere 87k ...
It’s an event and it’s Thursday. I’ll login tonight after work (not on steam).
cope. Them focusing on the vastly more popular variant is the correct choice. In a month we will be back to 600k and these blackmail posts are going to be obsolete.

They made the right choice. Mark my words.

0.2 will definitely show us a lot. I don’t think you’re going to see 600k again though. I think 200k would be a success.
its not a real league, its a shitty event.. And they havent had a real league in like 9 months because of POE 2 -- Many moved on forever, many uninstalled when GGG announced "Hey, were actually giving up on POE 1 afterall, sorry we completely lied but you know, fuck off" -- then there was backlast.

So this is just some leftover slop that MANY people are far less than excited for...

This is a swing and a miss. Absolutely nothing to be proud of, and as a "poe 1 is better" person -- it is, but this is absolutely not one of those moments. I'm not sure what it is about events, but I just can't care. If it's not core league content, i'm not entertained. This is a sideshow of bullshit, not real content.

I would wager that they are just trying to set up and condition people to play both games. Do this, then in 4-8 weeks, launch 0.2.0, then set up the staggered league cycles with both games.

To me, this makes the most sense from a business perspective. Get people conditioned to play both, but increase the revenue stream bumps to every 1.5-2 months instead of every 3-4. We will see.

Yeah I agree thats probably what they are going to do. But poe1 is not going to pull as many people as poe2. I tried to play the new event and I just couldn't handle going back to poe1. Plus ever since I switched to wasd its hard to go back.

They probably have access to the better numbers but players isnt the overall metric.

ARPU and ARPPU, plus overall revenue, and the costs to aquire new players and new revenue. Player funnel, retention, lifecycle etc.

I suspect that the type of players that POE1 attracted, or attracts, are the type of player that spends more.

the POE2 players are not going to be, on the whole, the same type of player who will spend.

Now, thats a guess, a guess based on being involved in calculating those things in the past for other types of games and maybe i am wrong.

At the end of the day, thanks for letting me know there is a new league in POE1, going to play.
I'm done buying anything until we get some clarity on the future of POE1 and POE2 and I know GGG plans to spend effort on a game I want to play.

Tell us if POE1 still has your top tier support or if POE2 will get a mode for more casual play.
