Not at all, as mentioned this was a throw-away development idea from the past, we have no current plans to use it for anything outside of being a future private league modifier.

Does this mean that you're finally revisiting Private Leagues to make them actually interesting and fun?

How are you going to avoid this being P2W? Unless alternate endgame and alternate ascendancies are weaker than normal ascendancies and normal atlas tree (doubt) this is exactly what you were trying to avoid with private leagues.

Are the new ascendancies replacing the current ones, or will we have access to all ascendancies old and new?

They said it themselves - if they add any positive modifiers to private leagues it would be p2w because you can pay for private league, farm in an easier league and then transfer out of it. They said in the past that they are not adding positive modifiers to private leagues because that would make them p2w. And yes I know what p2w means and I use it in the original meaning - ability to pay for any in game advantage or power directly. In this case you're quite literally paying to play with a more powerful ascendancies which is p2w.

If you have an Ascendancy node that grants you the same thing a unique does such as "Your Minions spread Caustic Ground on Death, dealing 30% damage" (Seigebreaker) or "Half of your Strength is added to your Minions" (Baron), does this stack if you equip that unique so in these 2 examples you get caustic ground dealing 30% + 20% or half strength + half strength (for 100%) ?

Or in typical fashion these would not stack so it just removes the need for unique equipping?
