Put "Mirrored" status on the base item you mirror
Mirrors should be removed from the game. More currency will be used if they're gone.

poe mirrors are actually curious concept, specifically GGG way of handling it. On the one claw, all arpg devs are doing all they can against item dupes, it is the ultimate evil of genre.
On the other claw, rmt tycoons are the most loyal "playerbase" you can imagine. As long as you let them do business, they won't leave your game even if you screw up every possible aspect of balance and design (which GGG always comes close to:)) So GGG solved it by making mirrors unobtainable by 99.99% normal players via hard gating it behind MF. Tested by poe1 community, you need to squeeze every bit of IIQ and IIR from both character and area/party modifiers to ever have non zero chance of dropping it (aside from few league mechanics with unusually high currency farm potential, which weren't transferred to Standard). But those who reach mirrors successfully can set up shop and are de-facto allowed to gain absolute power over other players. GGG will never admit it, but I bet mirror mechanics won't get changed because endless item dupes = rmt = more revenue for GGG. |

" It is plausible, your concept of RMTers being the most devote playerbase is definitely true. I am tired of replying to people who think mirror is rare enough to not create power grab for some people, also the ones that think banning one account or guild erases their accumulated wealth. Also the ones that claim there are no perfect items in poe2, there are just not for you because of omen prices, market grabbers already have multiple mirror crafted items. They can't look further than the tip of their nose. I am not leaning towards GGG being fishy about it yet, more like the whole situation got fishy and GGG is just clenching their titterinos on the well known "game vision" instead of looking into the matter further. Mirrors are ridiculously rare unless you build heavily into magic find, it’s why magic find was changed in PoE1. The Wildwood debacle (like original harvest) was giving some players far too much power (both in game play and economic).
PoE2 has slightly changed how magic find works but I don’t think to a degree that will make mirrors drop like pre magic find nerf PoE1 could. The one interesting post was the one to just remove them. This does have potential imo, but only once some proper (not existing ‘gamble’ rolling or extortionate omen crafting) crafting is added to the game. Hopefully this sort of crafting will come with time, maybe during EA once basic balance is sorted or maybe not until release and actual leagues are added to core game. As for RMT players, these should be dealt with far more efficiently by GGG. Every item has a unique ID and players with multiple mirrors in PoE2 is suspicious as hell, and could and should be investigated as potential RMT players and banned. Sure they will just make a new account but all that illicit loot will be gone with the banned account. " You are speaking as if there aren't people that play for 16hrs a day and bots. Mirrors shouldn't exist. Make crafting a must for every item. |

Ah yes the PoE communities obsession with the thought that making things rarer will some how make them cheaper for the casual player 🙄🤦. If you can't afford those items now imagine what they'll cost when only 1 copy can be made and supply is next to 0 against a mountain of demand. But I guess if you have 0 concept of what it takes to craft an item worth a mirror in the first place then this makes sense. This is like crying about why a Ferrari costs so much when the cost of the materials aren't much different than a cheap eco car.

" when the supply is next to 0, GGG won't have reason to overtune every pinnacle content exclusively for the sake of power-party nolifer groups who will farm mirrors every league. People pay exorbitant prices for items because nothing less can prevent the omnipresent risk of unlucky oneshot in juiced content. But this discussion is all wishful thinking because allowing silly broken builds to run wild is what brought GGG first renown, and distinguished poe from "another diablo clone". They care more about 0.01% players than the rest combined, and mirror is one of the tools delivered specially for their precious. Normal player without round the clock playtime who is frustrated at the face of overtuned content + death penalties + impossible trade prices can only go to the forum and rant. |
