PoE 1 has a bright future. This is a short-term setback.

When the game director is not allowed to talk about the game i don't see a bright future. He had to save poe1 and now poe2.

" Yep. My feeling early last year was that 2 was going to take the place of 1 and 1 gets left to die a slow death. This certainly seems the case. I'm sure Jonathon didn't realize the overwhelmingly bad impression his little update vid was going to cause but it was a real clusterfuck. It's clear to most I think that the fact the studio did not significantly expand the dev team over the last couple of years confirms poe1 gets kicked down the road until it falls in the gutter. 3.26 will be April at the earliest and the intimation was it will likely be half-assed anyway. 2 has a looong way to go before it's a proper game but it could certainly happen. Nonetheless, GGG is at a crossroads and another wrong turn could send it into permanent ignominy. 10cent will have no issue putting it on the auction block should it become tedious to them. There is a limit to optimism. Sorry it's hard for me to get any positive feeling at the moment. 6 years they have been working on PoE 2 and all we got is great half campaign, cool bosses and WASD. Ok it also looks awesome. But then I'm about done with the positives, did they put all those years just designing bossflights? They had no endgame until august 2024. A skill system that is way more limiting than PoE1's, no crafting to speak about ...
PoE 2 killed my love for PoE, and if feels so weird. I have played PoE for more than 12 years, skipping only like 5-6 leagues in total. Now 2025 will be a year of no PoE for me. Maybe that's what we all need? I don't know, PoE 2 feels so demotivating that I have no belief that the release will fix this empty game that ahs like 5% of the depth PoE 1 has, I just can't believe that I'm sorry. Very hard to stay positive, I have no more belif in their vision, they just killed off the last of that with kicking veteran supporters in the balls. " Pretty much this! Do I think "PoE 1 is dead"? No. But I really fail so see any effort, enthusiasm or passion from GGG when it comes to PoE 1. And with that in mind, it's really hard to trust, hope or expect anything. So I'm entering a state of apathy, expecting nothing but will greet good news with open arms. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

A 1 year hiatus is hardly a short-term setback for a product that only has been around for roughly 10 years.

It would be fine and dandy if PoE2 wasn't peak tier garbage that makes Diablo Immortal look like a masterpiece.
GGG made it so PoE2 is the only option, it's just a super shitty, terribly designed and 7-10 years from being finished option. This will be a business move for the ages. |

This is not a setback this is the beginning of the end.

I do agree with the bright future, i totally disagree with the short term.
They need between 2 or 3 years to make poe2 endgame content close to the quantity and quality that poe1 endgame content has. But i am sure that in the long term we will have 2 very good ARPGs |
