PoE 1 has a bright future. This is a short-term setback.
Two successful products is better than one. That's undeniable. Both PoE games have a bright future. 3G is a relatively small studio that has not yet learned how to manage two live service products simultaneously. PoE2 was way behind schedule; resources were reallocated. This is a short-term setback. PoE1 will continue in a positive direction. Mark has already proven as much.
As an enjoyer of both games, today's announcement was a slight letdown for PoE1, but it was also big news foe PoE2: A major patch is underway. Presumably, the new money from PoE2 will bolster both development teams. Management of the two products - and the delineation between them - will improve. Mark will not abandon PoE1. Settlers was too good. He will continue to push the game in a positive direction. As Mark is currently the game director on both games, it is likely a significant resource constraint. One that may have to be resolved moving forward to keep both games on schedule. Last edited by Quest27#4670 on Jan 30, 2025, 2:35:32 PM Last bumped on Jan 31, 2025, 4:09:40 PM

I'll believe it when i see it.
Talk is cheap and broken promises erode trust, maybe that can be restored in time but for now.. yeah, it's hard to be hopeful about the future when all signs point to the opposite direction. |

I like your optimism, but don't share it.
I will be here if/when 3.26 drops though -- I just don't have any confidence in it being soon. Thanks for all the fish!

" rofl mark is full time on poe2 and has been for a while, so has the whole studio this isn't just this delay it's the delays and concessions for the past handful of garbage seasons that we were told were bad because they needed that staff for poe2 which means this state of things will continue and poe2 will continue to get the overwhelming majority of attention/support/focus and poe1 will only get the occasional developer that jonathan lets work on it for a little bit before he needs to pull them back to poe2 jonathan is apparently running the show now, and it's a shitshow |

@Quest27 you should know better than to say something so obvious and reasonable in the GD forums. This is the exclusive territory of doomers and haters, and there is no way they will let any reasonable or intelligent thought happen here.
This forum may be even worse than Redit.... |

" When being lied straight through the teeth without going out of character was quite the stunt Jon pulled. Seems they already knew a while ago that 3.26 wasnt going to launch from last year. If they were real men they would have just said 3.26 is currently on hiatus until further notice 'bla, bla, bla...' Personally, I would have given them money for that but with only lies they get nothing. However, I do think 3.26 will get launched... eventually. Youtube - PartTimeExile

A year long league is not a short term setback, to be honest. At that point its almost becoming abandonware. What makes things worse is that PoE2 is a worse game than PoE1.
If PoE2 was actually a better game, people would be less up at arms. |

No, tempest keep was merely a setback. This is commercial suicide.
General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.

" What planet are you living on? The game is 7 months into a league on a game meant to have 4 months leagues, and development hasn't started on the new league, not likely will until a major patch on PoE2. There is nothing doomer or hater on the response; it's stark reality. Last edited by Pathological#1188 on Jan 31, 2025, 12:48:32 AM

I wish I could believe PoE 1 has a bright future, but I can't on account of one thing. That Jonathan hasn't said anything positive about PoE 1 in.....forever? He's gone on the record saying he hopes people like PoE 2 more than 1. Why would he invest in engaging players in a different game when PoE 1 is direct competition of PoE 2? I was skeptical, but now I really believe they want to kill support for PoE 1 as fast as humanely possible.
