R.I.P. A thank you to CW and Mark

None of your interpretations add up. The camp fire talk after holiday was super relexaed, Mark was super relaxed and of course Jonathan is the boss...nothing out of the ordinary. Someone is the boss usually, big whoopdi.

Also, Jonathan making both bad news videos in the recent past instead of just a post by the community manager shows some responsibility. You don't actively want to make this videos. I don't see any advantage that Mark makes the recent video just because he is lead of poe1.

All good things come to an end, happens with everything in life and with life itself. It's time to mourn and move on, it has been a great ride, this past 4 years feeling like a child again every 3 (or 4) months, even though I'm a mid age adult with kids. I've invested almost 5k hours of my life into this game, not counting money spent in a game like I never did in any other, and personally I don't regret it.

So for that, a special thank you to CW even if you are not around anymore and to Mark, you made me happy with your commitment as dev's and creators of this amazing game. To be sure, I'm talking about Path of Exile (or "PoE1"), not the replacer with a 2 at the end, driven to make money. And we know, we all want more money, be rich and live like kings.

Having that said, I will throw something else into the fire, at least, you were frontal finally, but not honest. And it's easy to see that John the new CW of Tencent GGG (similar to Activision Blizzard), and to be honest, since he showed up I was not able to trust that speeded speech, some things sounded fake and now I know I was right. You don't care about your main community/clients and that's ok, those you don't like it can just move on, like me.

As a curiosity, I've asked my wife as a specialist in Psychology and body language analysis (working broadly with kids, adult criminals, etc) to analyze some videos, this last 3 minute video, the last Tavern talk video with DM and Ghazzy and some older videos (2023/2024) and it was funny to hear her statements, summarizing it:
- John is the new boss around the block
- John doesn't allow Mark to speak that might reveal internal conflict
- In tavern talk, When Mark talks, there's always the need for John to gain control of the conversation, which might indicate clear development/ideas differences within the team
- Mark is not able to talk or answer about "PoE1"
- Mark has a complete change in how he behaves at the couch (2025) compared from other videos 2023/2024 - he clearly has no control even if he's body wants to do so
- Last video, Mark being the main lead of "PoE1" and he's not the one communicating with the community, indicating clearly that Tencent and John goal is only to drive PoE2 (their new easy/quick money making baby)
- John slow and paced speech talking about something he doesn't want to talk about and that probably, was obliged to do so, to handle community pressure

Never though I would uninstall this game, but that happened today, maybe I'll be back some day if things change direction, no one can ever say never.
To the one's that stay, I wish you all the best, enjoy this game running now in Standard mode, this community is one of the best out there.

Peace.

Hi Op, it would be good to know what your wife thinks of Jonathan's latest video for PoE1 players about his non-verbal language...

My perception of the video was the opposite of what Jon said.
For a video supposedly dedicated to the PoE1 player, I mostly heard a video where Jonathan again spent his time criticizing PoE1 to find excuses for PoE2's poor development.

To put it simply, the video was divided into three parts:

1. We requisitioned the PoE2 developers for the last few PoE1 leagues, so that we could deliver the contents to you on time.
=> What I really heard:
We apologize to PoE2 players for prioritizing PoE1 league development in recent years. It's PoE1's fault that we've fallen behind and that EA is of poor quality, but we're going to make up for it now by leaving PoE1 on the sidelines.

2. We wanted to release 3.26 before EA but ran out of time. We're committed to continuing to feed the game with new leagues as promised.
=> What I really heard :
We could have released 3.26 and continued to prioritize PoE1, but we preferred to give you an average version of PoE2 within the approximate dates that had been set.

3. We need to prioritize PoE2 in order to stabilize its current state, and then allocate all our resources to an exciting new league.
=> What I really heard :
Rest assured, we haven't yet started work on 3.26, and we won't until EA is stable and improved in terms of content and balancing. Sortir une nouvelle league de PoE1 demanderai trop de ressources et nous obligerait à stopper la progression de nos équipes sur PoE2 qui est notre priorité.

Without being a professional in socialogy or psychology, I've already had many discussions with a good friend of mine who also plays PoE1 as much as I do and I've always told him that I had the feeling that Jonathan wasn't a sincere person and that he seemed to hate PoE1 and wanted to make it disappear. It seems I wasn't so far off the mark after all.

Semi paranoid conspiracy theory bs. From a buisness perspective their decision makes sense unfortunately. But i want another poe1 league badly and at some point they have to deliever. THey broke their promise that poe2 developement won't affect poe1. That's all there is to it and nothing more, imo.

You're reading too much into it. This video was just damage control/corpo bs, you can't find any real intentions behind it. The only thing that matters in this vid is that GGG has now given themselves an infinite time extension for 3.26.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as horribly off-base as it is.
General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.
You guys need to be more honest to yourselves about who "they" are now in regards to decision making and funneling of development dollars. It's the ones who have 100% ownership of the company now, which is Tencent. If "they" can continue to the cash cow for some time by funneling ALL development dollars into MTX and supporter packs, then you can bet that will be the only priority to the detriment of BOTH POE1 and POE2.

Drop the copium guys, it's much worse than you think. These forum posts read like posts on blizzard forums against blizzard entertainment oblivious to the fact that they merged with activision in 2008.

I'm waiting for the veiled illusion to fully drop and straight up "pay to win" features coming into POE2 sooner than later. It will be a huge success with the Asian markets, which are the only ones that matter now given the new ownership and the playerbases they market to.
