Sadly, we knew where this was going. You can pick a random "PoE 2 interview" and the chances that Jonathan is badmouthing PoE 1 is close to 100%. I'm not going to make this personal, because we can't blame one guy for this shitshow, but it's pretty clear that Jonathan does not respect PoE 1, and that the scope of PoE 2 grew bigger and bigger because of that. In the end, it just grew too big, and now they are failing both games.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

As someone who has gained a lot of knowledge of human nature from my jobs over the years, I have to say that I find your wife's take very interesting.
Jonathan constantly comes with a closed posture, interrupts people and seems hectic. Reading from the teleprompter doesn't really make things any better. This (also Chris's last videos) has given me the constant feeling over the last few years that everything isn't going well behind the scenes. Also Jonathan's answer on their hiring policies from first exilecon were massively turning me off. I have had no real previous encounters with him to that point, since Chris was usually the face to the community. https://youtu.be/V9E43cCJHWU?feature=shared&t=2739 saying (hell, even thinking) something like that as a boss is a complete misstep. Imagine hearing that as an employee. Making them money. Ofc growth is hard, but it's your paycheck. Kudos to Marks appearance tho after the growth-question, to me he is simply likeable. Jonathan always came off as smug but i thought it was just a nervous tick or something now we know it was disdain for the PoE 1 community. Mark barely being allowed to talk but being "in charge" is something else entirely poor guy i hope he realizes they are setting him up to be the fall guy and blame this on him.
Its the end of an era it was a great run but it was unrealistic to think it would last even though it seemed like it should be self sustaining. Man im going to miss this game , PoE 2 is not good enough maybe it wil be in a couple years , but i doubt it will ever be worth the death of PoE 1. |
