⭕️POE1 Players Are Getting Screwed Over, and It’s Honestly Disgusting⭕️

Alright, I tried to be patient. I really did. When PoE2 was first announced, I was actually excited. A sequel, but not really a sequel, just a massive update to the game I’ve sunk over a decade of my life into? Sounds great. But here we are, years later, and I’m just done with this entire situation.

GGG has completely abandoned PoE1 players. People who have spent thousands of hours, thousands of dollars, building up their accounts, their MTX, their experience in a game that was supposed to be evolving, not dying. And what do we get? Nothing. No meaningful leagues, no cool little side events to keep us engaged, just a barren wasteland of stagnation because “PoE2 is coming soon.”

And let’s be real, this isn’t even a new issue. If you’ve been playing PoE1 for a while, you know this has been happening for years. Every time the game started feeling rough around the edges, we got the same excuse:
“Yeah, we had to divert some resources to PoE2, but we’ll get back to improving PoE1 soon!”
Again and again, PoE1 players were asked to be patient, to wait just a little longer, because PoE2 needed resources “for now.” But now that we’re here? It turns out “for now” actually meant forever. PoE1 has been on life support for years, and we just didn’t want to admit it.

And the worst part? The people hyping PoE2 the hardest aren’t even the real PoE player base. It’s mostly D4 refugees—the same crowd that played Diablo IV for one season, got bored, and bounced. The same people who hated seasonal content in D4, but now act like they’ll be in PoE2 for the long haul. Spoiler: They won’t. These players aren’t the type to stick around for multiple leagues. They’ll come, play one or two seasons, and then move on to whatever shiny new ARPG is next. And when that happens? What’s left? A gutted PoE1 and a PoE2 that was built for tourists, not the dedicated community that kept GGG alive all these years.

Like, at least throw us something. A fun little Mayhem event? A tiny balance pass? Anything to show that PoE1 isn’t actually dead before PoE2 even releases? But nope. They just expect us to sit here and wait while they pull the rug out from under us.

I didn’t hate PoE2 before. I really didn’t. But after years of excuses, after watching a game I love get slowly suffocated, I can’t help but resent it now. PoE1 players were loyal. We were invested. And now we’re just discarded in favor of a new player base that won’t even stick around.

Totally agree with what you say.

Yup. And if GGG released 3.26 now, PoE Deuce would end up looking like a ghost town, so they wouldn't dare if they could. =9[.]9=

The biggest problem is that GGG doesn't know what the user wants. I'm even more angry that they didn't make any effort.. I'm also angry that they're one-sided.They don't know how to respect the user
Preach!

This is a tale as old as time, a game develops a core player base. The company releases a sequel in which its incredible initial popularity was driven primarily by the core player base. The company begins to make changes or implement new ideas to retain the massive influx of new casual players which requires alienating the core player base. The new casual players move on because the next new popular game releases, as the core player base simultaneously whittles away. Burning the candle at both ends.

This type of philosophy kills game longevity. I’m sure many will think this isn’t a big deal but whether they know it or not, these are the type of decisions that actually kill entire franchises.
The worst part is that poe 2 sucks. 10 years of development for nothing. Its honestly crazy.
They should at least give us, or even sell us an offline port of the game, most of us already play it alone and just use the trade site anyway. Turn it into some grimdawn like, instead of just throwing all in the trash can. I played around 300hrs of POE2, and let's face it, the game is boring. Yeah yeah, it's EA, but the core is there, that new atlas, at least for me, sucks deep.
PoE II might not be the finished product but it makes PoE look so antiquated, a convoluted, unbalanced mess with a terribly limited game engine.

The future for GGG is PoE II. Join us on an exciting journey or stay stuck in the past with a moribund game.
well one thing atleast held true so far. they didnt split the playerbase.. they just created a new one and said fuck you to the old one
I thought the communication was good.
Not surprised.

PoE2 is doing well but needs a lot of love.
It makes more sense to focus on your future than the past.
