This game has problems with dictating who gets what loot and why in Multiplayer.
I don't think it should be possible for a Divine Orb to drop from a rare monster that I have done 80%+ of the damage on, in MY juiced up T16 waystone, started from MY hideout, and have it be "locked" to someone else. That's absolute bullshit.
It's 2025. Why the hell isn't there a multiplayer setting to "roll" for extremely valuable loot? There is no excuse. What the hell is this shit? In 2025 it's not acceptable to pit friends against each other over YOUR bad loot system. And that's what this does. I'm standing there with my Witch waiting for a Divine Orb that DID drop *locked* to me, so that I can pick it up. Well, guess what, if some other party member thinks they can snatch it up they will. They have better poison resistance than you and the Div is sitting in an obnoxious, disgustingly out-of-date game mechanic like an on-death poison cloud or some other crap? Good luck convincing your friends that that was *your* Divine Orb once they pick it up. This is shit. Beyond the lack of visual clarity, beyond the body blocking, beyond the shitty scaling that makes random White mobs 1HKO you even with maxed out resistances and every defensive passive under the sun and nothing but tanking armor, in a game where there is "one death maps" and your friends can inadvertendly troll you in so, so, sooo many ways, only to continue on their merry way in *YOUR* map because the game decided to fuck *YOU* using the RNG roulette wheel of pain; if you DO manage to struggle through all this crap and try and find a meaningful, fun multiplayer experience to enjoy with friends, you're actively pitted against each other by the complete lack of any loot parity. This is horrible. I hate the devs for this. Fix this because right now the game is advertised as a Multiplayer game with 6 players and the only way I would encourage any of my other friends to come play this game with me now is if I secretely hated them and wanted them to suffer. Wtf. This is so bad. Edit: by the way, the fact that the game decides that a Tier 1 waystone should not only drop in a Tier 15 map but is somehow so valuable that it should be locked to the map instance owner, why the FUCK is the same logic not applied to something like a DIVINE ORB or a SUPER RARE ITEM DROP? WTF IS THAT? That's not an oversight. That's just embarassingly stupid. Last edited by GnMQDMLmWZ#3336 on Jan 27, 2025, 9:44:32 AM Last bumped on Jan 27, 2025, 11:56:28 AM

Or better yet each player has their own loot pool that the other players dont even see. Player can pick up and throw item on the ground for other players to see. If you only saw your loot, you wouldn't be upset unless the other player was like "OMG CHECK OUT MY DIV DROP!".
There are many systems that feel like they are running old technology. Small QoL stuff that has changed over the last 2 decades that simply should have been implemented from the beginning. |

" 100% and the devs have earned -rizz repuation with me and my friends for forcing us to battle each other over these archaic, bullshit systems that serve 0 purpose other than to create straight friction. |

The host of the session determines how the loot drops for everyone. Check your Options menu.

If you are playing with friends why not just agree to split the cost and loot gained from mapping?

" yeah this sucks. I can choose between "Free for all" or "short allocation" AKA "watch the item that dropped for you sit in on-death effects while someone else grabs it" or "permanent allocation" in which the game artificially decides who gets what without the players VOLUNTARILY putting their hands up for a loot roll Need/Greed style... which... every single other MMO ever does... And that's the issue. I don't want this shitty 1999 vibe. I'm so sick of whatever dev has a fetish for archaic, out of date systems. WE DON'T WANT TO PLAY DIABLO 2. WE WANT TO PLAY *PATH OF EXILE 2*. GIVE US NEED/GREED OPTION. INEXCUSABLE THING TO EXCLUDE. Last edited by GnMQDMLmWZ#3336 on Jan 27, 2025, 10:18:58 AM

" In a way that's kinda how it works currently, except the items are visible to everyone. If you're suggesting `loot * 6`, I doubt that'll ever happen, it's going to destroy the economy more than mirror dupes. |
|
" I wish every human was this good natured. Why didn't that idiot throw the ring into the volcano in Lord of the Rings? I guess the human instinct for Greed is very potent. Hence the titular name of the system developed by HUMANs to circumvent this very pressing issue; NEED or GREED loot rolling... |

" So you don't know there already is more loot when playing in a group? Currency is straight-up multiplied by the number of people in the group. Other item types have different multipliers. I have to say that common loot for a group is the single thing that makes me not want to play in a group. Except for the social aspect, playing in a group only adds friction. I don't want to sit in my hideout, trade, and calculate how to split the loot so it's fair for every member. The drop should be independent for every group member and visible only to them. I don't see any negative effects of this solution. |

" Unfortunately the game has dozens of archaic old-fashioned decisions and it's clear all these were chosen on purpose. I usually don't go complaining on the forums and I have even created a feedback post saying that this is the major issue of the game in my opinion and that I lost motivation to play because of that: The Devs have an extreme old-school vision and they think every choice they make is awesome, and unfortunately they are not open to changes. For almost everything that was mentioned by the player side on the interview they had an answer that was either "Nah, it's ok the way it is" or "We will look into it in the future" I have no problem with mf, xp loss on death, 1 portal per map, but there are too many archaic designs that look terrible. I've seen the first Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter on arcades, I'm old enough to enjoy old school things but, things EVOLVE, both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are not the same thing, they progressed throughout the years. And it seems PoE is bound and chained to the old fashion ways and doesn't want to get free. To make things worse we have this minority of people who think everything is great and that the game is perfect, I won't be surprised if someone comes on this very thread and says the loot system is great and/or should not be changed. Being against or in favor of something is ok, it's called opinion, but unfortunately in PoE community we have some Blind Iron Sentinels who think the game is 200% perfect, and that is in someway bad for feedback.
