Death Penalty OMG!

I am a new player, never played POE1, but surely loving POE2 and will surely play this long-term. I just find the death penalty (-10%) so punishing. I think this is bad especially for the casual players and others who have very limited time due to work. I hope GGG can consider to decrease this, some players may just find this stressful and might just lead to quitting even if they love the game.

XP loss is a natural and a well-working mechanism.

The game is challenging you to stay alive. If you can't, then you are at a level where you currently belong. Work on your character, work on your playstyle, run easier content. When you improve and you are stronger, you can try more challenging content.
You shouldn't "die your way to the next level".

There is nothing magical waiting for you at lvl 100 anyway and no content is blocked behind levels. Lvl 85 is already well enough to complete anything currently in the game.

I'm a casual too. If the game lets me to continue making mistakes and dying without any penalty, I will never learn.
Pretty much any game has a death-negative effects that should teach you that dying is bad and a form of losing and that you should improve.

There is a ress-cooldown in WoW, there is a rank decrease in Chess and you get ported back to the start in Super Mario.

You have infinite amount of mobs to kill and gain your XP back, easily.

TLDR. Stop dying = problem fixed.

if you have limited time, dont expect to get the same as people with unlimited time.
if you want to lose less xp, stop dying or buy omens.

Yup, I totally agree. Actually I am doing these suggestions you mentioned, currently at lvl 88 (20% more going 89). Maybe I am just too surprised since it's my first time to experience too much exp loss when dying, well I mean 10% for me is really too much since I have little to no background in POE.

Anyway, it's up to the devs if they will consider or nor, as for me, I'll just continue playing since I finally found a game I really wanted to play long term. Just pushing my luck (be gentle to me, master).

"Buy omens" ooh, i haven't tried or learned this yet, thanks master.

Take your blindfold off. This perspective ignores the fact you can take a random one shot by a number of things at literally any point. I've seen the "best" meta builds, including garbage like the autobomber, get 1 shot just by being "unlucky". Whoops, got chain stunned / frozen by something because you weren't paying attention. Guess you should go back to t14 maps! It doesn't even make sense in this game. Get your head out of the sand. The myriad of death penalties in this game only serve as some kind of weird self congratulatory mechanism for the 1% to look down on the average player. Does the "you don't belong here" justification really do anything other than create some kind of weird elitism that encourages hostile behavior towards "casuals". Do you even care about games being fun or are you just a troll that derives your "fun" from harassing casuals?

Look, if you set yourself a "goal" to reach lvl 100 and you are frustrated that you are not there, then you either have to adjust your gameplay to reach it (and it's very challenging) or adjust your goal to something lower.

Swallow your pride and stop blaming the game. The game works just fine.
Level 85 is well sufficient for almost any build to finish all content. Very high levels are sort of a show off rank, deserved by those who push the limits.

- Is there a dangerous type of mob in this map? Well then leave your map.
- Is there a room for improvement of defenses on your build? Well, do it.
- Are you willing to grind tens of hours just for a show-off rank? Nobody is stopping you.

What if there was no XP loss on death? The game would turn into a Cookie Clicker where only punishment for bad play is that you advance forward slower.

Invest your time in finding solutions that get you where you want to be, rather than blaming "the external" world for not being where you thing you should be. And I say that with all my love in my hearth.
You will get there, I believe you do! :)

To be fair, this is exactly how the game looks right now with all the penalties... :)

Not true. If you played badly enough you would simply never level up.
