It seems as though Jonathan hasn't played D2R...
So, a little late, I know, but I'm currently watching Asmongold play D2R, and seeing him actually RUNning around the areas, I wanted to give this suggestion:
To improve movement speed, all you have to do is implement a sprint mechanic (maybe a permanent +30% MS?), combined with a stamina bar to regulate the mechanic to not make it so zoom-zoomy throughout the whole game. Maybe have a 5 second timer on the stamina bar, and a 5 second CD. Then just get rid of the MS mod from boots. That'll make the campaign FAR less tedious. Thoughts? If people can move around the giant maze levels more quickly they might accomplish daily goals more quickly and log off.
This isnt good when they want to show inventors numbers. They dont care if half the game is bots or people buying and quitting the game due to hype. Only thing that matters to the investors is "number bigger". |

" theyre just trying to make the best game they can, they dont care about that sort of stuff m8 its irrelevant. jonathan has played diablo 2, jonathan knows david brevik the lead developer of diablo 2 at blizzard north. this is david brevik doing a Q&A at path of exiles Exilecon in NZ and what he had to say about the stamina bar https://youtu.be/t5lWxo3rjvM?t=1366 I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I think it was Steelmage, or maybe Ben, I don't remember exactly, that suggested having a MS% out of combat.
So you'd move for example with +50% MS when out of combat I don't hate the idea, but I don't love it either. But maybe something could be done there Idk Last edited by kamiknx#1162 on Jan 25, 2025, 6:08:47 PM

" You're insane if you think GGG doesn't care about investor money. It's probably not as simple as the person you're quoting makes it out to be, but GGG definitely cares about its investors. I'm not sure how much of a role Brevik has in PoE these days. Last I heard, he was helping GGG port the game to China. That was a decade ago. Now he's working on his own projects. " Campaign is not tedious. You'll eventually find some low level uniques whcih are favored to run through the campaign like Foxshade & Briarpatch. You can get at least 20% Movement Speed from like level 6. The only thing I dislike about the way it is now is that no matter how insanely good the stats are, if boots I have crafted or found don't have MS I have to throw them to the garbage bin. Especially on warrior who is punished for wearing heavy armor and shield with negative MS mods, there is no scenario in which insane res/ armor/etc would make up for lack of MS. There's also passives that help with MS. If anything I would ask the devs to just put MS on more unique boots to make them usable. All this artwork for nothing. |

personally i just dont want another button. with wasd/joypads now, we dont have enough buttons and fingers. i agree with brevik theres no pint in a stamina bar, why limit it?
whatever the right speed is just make us move at that speed. if were saying characters should move faster than they do now then just make the base movespeed faster imo. movespeed out of combat is an idea, im same dont hate it dont love it. id be fine with it i guess? is there a reason for us not to move a bit faster out of combat? were just backtracking etc. i dunno if we need to move faster. it always feels good to move faster so in that sense ill always enjoy a bit more speed but i dont know if its good or bad for the game. i dont rly mind either way, as long as it doesnt result in another button tax. I don't think anyone would be opposed to some "out-of-combat" movement speed or a sprint function that would disable the moment a skill is being used. I don't even think the people viewing "zooming" as the devil would be opposed to it. And if they did, I'm really interested in their argument(s).
Act zones and maps in PoE 2 are designed in such a way they backtracking is inevitable in certain situations. They've introduced waypoints as a band-aid, but it's just that; a band-aid, treating the symptoms and not the cause. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
