This is because without saying it, GGG want you to stay in the game longer, so by arbitrarily not giving you an auotloot feature, you have to spend time picking each individual item up. It's all about player retention time, the longer you're in the game, the better the chance of you spending money.
ppl will stay and eventualy spend money if they enjoy the game at some point all these litle qol feature missing are just stacking and you start to be bothered and then you may just quit. So yeah there's probably more depth to it than just GGG is making your life worst for you to stay more cause that's sound pretty ilogic to me.

I agree, whole kill breach loot after, kill another breach loot after kind of energy draining that make me pause game. Most QoL upgrades actually keeps you in the game.
Hanging in forum for quite days now, and some assumptions from playerbase towards GGG surprised me, asked myself "Why would they ever want that"?

So many 'quality of life' requests are asking the game to play itself. You are expected to divide your attention and make split second decisions - we all resist it but its actually what makes the game more engaging.
Do you join multiplayer group games? It is a online only game - they are the most fun I suggest it. Auto currency pick up would have to be turned off to play in a group using SA or FFA loot. You can't have a game where half the time you have to fast pickup to get your currency and other times you don't even bother - conditioning would be all off.

I get the point but what exactly split second decision i make when i grab currencies? Is it risky to pick up exalted orbs?
Some people suggested, items should be dropped as identified and im against it. I believe it gives some depth.
In general, I agree community asks for many QoL suggestions that would make game play itself, but not in this currency grab instance.
Game can be more engaging, more interesting by having harder mechanics on bosses, maps scaling harder, extra side quests etc, not by denying reasonable quality of life changes.
Imagine not having any of the stash tabs we have, inventory management would be even more messy, would you also consider that game state as more engaging?
Are you not happy we can create portals to town without having portal scrolls,
Or would you also find it more engaging to loot portal scrolls?

Dont know what those terms are but surely there will be plenty 3rd party tool hacks would benefit that, item filter that focuses on only looting "perfect items" and such, that suggestion would ruin so many things in economy and gameplay.
