Does PoE's design successfully trick its players?
" What was the point of this post? Just don't play. You clearly don't enjoy the game, yet here you are, obsessing over it even when you aren't playing. |

Tltr: op has yet a lot to learn about the game lol
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

It really does seem like this game isn't for you.

" Well isn't that interesting? Because when I used Iron Reflexes, I was told I have too much armor and should use some evasion on top of it. It's crazy how a player can get so many mixed messages from the community. (Not faulting you, btw, I actually agree. I hate "mitigation" based on either taking 100% or 0% of the damage based on RNG. It's not reliable or consistent. The range is way too fluctuant.) But this is in regards to the "get good" responses. The community can't even make up their mind and agree on things, but EVERYONE spouts the "get good" just the same. " Tell me where I've misrepresented the game. Tell me where I got anything wrong. Or are you just blowing smoke? |

" You can never have too much Armour, it is pure mitigation. Iron Reflexes is great if you hate the probabilistic mechanics of defence in PoE. Mixing evasion with armour is dividing your potential of mitigating damage. Evasion is only worthwhile on softcore. You're barking up a tree my guy. If you had too much armour you'd have no issues with survivability. |

" You haven't, you just don't like the game. Maybe try Runescape. Last edited by PoEFreshie#2504 on Jan 25, 2025, 9:11:58 PM

Tell ya what OP, show me your video of "a couple white skeleton archers" one shot you, and that's all that hits you, while also you mapping through T16's with your health "never moving", and I'll be interested. But it's never actually just a couple white mobs, is it?

" It literally was. Sorry I didn't record it for you. I record a LOT of things just in case. But sometimes, things slip through. Maybe I was too lazy to open OBS and do the whole process for one playthrough, then regret it when something crazy happens. Maybe I hit the record hotkey, but it doesn't actually start recording. There's a lot of reasons not EVERYTHING gets recorded. And I deeply apologize, TO YOU, that this was one of those things that slipped by. I have plenty of other stuff, though! But I have a lack of desire to upload it, show it to you, and watch you predictably cherry pick some kind of thing, and say that's why I deserved to die. ("You only have 4,500 Life! You need at least 8k, get better gear. Your skill tree sucks.") " Ah. I think PoE is deisgned poorly, so, naturally, suggest that I play Runescape! Classic. Classic shaming from PoE elitist. I'm sure somebody will notice you soon! At least you admit that I haven't even misrepresented the game. So I give you credit for being honest there. Still weird that you can say that, and still defend the game. "No, yeah, it has all these horrible designs. WHAT'S WRONG, DON'T LIKE IT? GO PLAY HELLO KITTY, LOLOLLLL!" Kind of proves my point that people actually cling to this game out of a false sense of elitism and pride. |

" Yes, I hope I don't die, not only because this game has a hardcore mode which is supposed to balance the game so that characters don't die. But mainly because it's a ROLE PLAY GAME. And playing a character dying is the end, and I hope I don't die. - I really get scared and I don't understand how KILLING the player in a stupid way with a stupid HK came to be considered difficulty. It's not, quite the opposite, it's LAZY from bad devs. One line of code kills a player, but having fun and immersing ourselves in the game is very difficult. Look at BG3 friends, even at the lowest levels where your life is scarce there are no stupid HKs. Unfortunately PoE is just a generic Chinese game made to enslave you in front of the PC. Or like Elon (and all the Estrumers) for you to pay some slave to farm for you. Meanwhile, people like you confuse dying in an idiotic way all the time and wasting days to drop a yellow item with DIFFICULTY... |

Also, I didn't agree that the game is designed poorly. I just stated that your observations of game mechanics was correct. The game introduces problems to solve, you are unable to solve those problems when making a build. That frustrates you & instead of solving those problems, you blame. So, I suggested you find a more simple game, Runescape is quite fun.
