What makes me stop playing PoE2
What makes me stop playing is having no fucking clue about what killed me. One shots from a huge mega quad limb gorilla is fine, but one shots from stuff that I can't even see ain't.
I have a 81 level sorc, with 77% evasion, maxed elemental resistances and 40% chaos res. 1500+ hp and 1000 shield. Using Wind and Ghost spirit gems in an attempt to negate death. Sure I understand the "Get good" thing, but how da * am I supposed to get good at something when I don't even know what I am doing wrong. The graphics are cool a pleasing to the eyes. But maybe those graphics is also what is making me miss important information to keep me alive. Archers arrows are more or less invisible, unless the come from those spiked crabs or venom spitting snakes. Igniting spots on the floor are really hard to spot when the floor is filled with corpses or when running in tight catacombs. If there are sounds cues on rare mobs randoms abilities then I have not heard any of them, except those purple exploding wisps which does not make enough sound relative to how dangerous those things can be. It is very disheartening to die, when you know you how much you lose. The specific map and its modifiers, the actual map, its bosses and special features and on top of that you lose a ton of XP. And when that death happens right after spending a ton of hard earned currency, in ones attempts to stop those deaths, is what makes me stop playing the game. Stuff that have the potential to do an absurd amount of damage should be obviously telegraphed and impossible for your eyes to miss, or have an audio cue telling you that something f' up is about to happen to you unless you don't dodge optimally. Audio that should take presidence over cool sound effects of crackling lightnings and death throes of dying enemies. " The answer in the second part: sorc with evasion and hp. Say no more :) |
|
" You have 2500hp. Your evasion does not apply to AOEs. You will absolutely get 1 shot by a juicy crit if you are unlucky enough to be hit. Why do you think people are targeting 8k+ effective hp? Why do you think people are running shields with high block? At over 9k ehp and 69% block, I genuinely don't remember when I was last 1 shot... |

The obvious reason to find out what killed u is look in mirror
Thats the guy, we got him |

1500 hp is too low
so is 1000 es "buff grenades"
- Buff Grenades (Buff-Grenades) |

Your biggest mistake was taking evasion. Armor and evasion in PoE2 are both terrible in the current state of the game, because they scale poorly compared to energy shield and provide less benefits. Life builds are also pretty terrible for the same reason. Life nodes are extremely scarce compared to energy shield so you can't build it high enough to help you survive deadly hits.
Let's put it more simply: You have 1500 life and 1000 ES. Your evasion lets you avoid getting hit 77% of the time. The moment a 2500+ damage hit gets past your evasion, you're dead. You know what would've saved you? The same amount of evasion if it had been ES instead. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. Last edited by Pizzarugi#6258 on Jan 23, 2025, 8:31:24 AM

" Anything by itself is terrible. Evasion is perfectly fine if used with Ghost Dance AND Wind Dance. Add block and you're really tanky now. |
|
" That's correct, but with the exception of ghost/wind dance, you can do the same with ES and have better defenses doing so. 4k+ ES plus 65%+ block will carry you further than EV+GD+WD+block. Like I said earlier, a large part of this has to do with the sheer number of ES nodes in the passive tree compared to AR, ES, and life nodes. It allows ES to scale a lot harder. Agreed, although vastly improved since the removal of most on death effects I still on occasion find myself dead in an empty screen.
And as 'helpful' as it is for people to suggest that having better defences makes you die less (who knew?!), that is not the issue being posted...dying is not bad, dying with no idea why is bad. It would be enormously helpful to have a "X monster killed you with Y ability" message, instead of just "you died" which is painfully obvious. |

Is that another post of a weird ultra-glass-canon-build dying in omega-juiced-map (juiced for no reasons) that complains about the game design instead of reflecting on the player's self inflicted conditions ?
