so instead of 0% elemental resist you will take full damage as physical instead ? whats the point here ?

The most obvious - you ignore elemental resistances when you fill your other gear slots.

This goes a long way on its own.

There is gear on the market with BRUTALLY GOOD rolls, that plain and simple lack resistances. So not a single person wants them.

And they sell for nothing...

The difference I am talking about is in magnitude of change of base currency.
Some items with such rolls would sell for few Divines, if they had resistances. And they sell for few exalts...

The not so obvious part - all those RUNE SOCKETS can be used for something else.
(I lowered the "extra crit" damage to 10%.)

(I will give you a secret - you die to crits in POE, not normal hits. So this solves another issue on its own)

A lot of good talk in here about the role of uniques as being specialized items with niche purposes.
I won't add to the repetition of it.

I'll plug in this though:

The specific helm mentioned in this thread is literally a joke.

One of the earlier arpgs out there, one of the Diablos iirc, had the ability to equip gear that wasn't identified, and when unidentified it would only have the revealed effects. The unrevealed parts didn't affect you.

That game had a helmet that was supposed to be cursed or something, but the character and therefor player isn't supposed to know its cursed until they've done the magical identification.
Since the "curse" was supposed to be hidden, the downside of the helmet was one of the hidden modifiers you have to identify it to get.
That helmet was best in slot for certain builds, so long as it remained unidentified. Once identified, it was pretty much worst in slot.
This helmet in PoE, is a reference to that helmet.

I know exactly what helm you are talking about. It's called gotterdamerung. It was better unidentified because it had the best armor class in the game. If they wanted to do a tribute to that helm then why doesn't veil of night have any good reason to leave it unidentified?

This game doesn't let you equip unidentified gear regardless, so nothing can be good or bad in an unidentified state.

No_U DoN´T, cause its a reference to two similar items mashed together.
Else you would conzentrate more on the additional defense part.
I´m just guessing here :)

When it comes to the identify part, i´m still in favour of having multiple uniqs on the same base and reveal upon scrolling it, but thats unlikely to happen.

Idk man , Hyrr's Ire Chest place and Heatshiver is BiS for my Vaal Iceshot in POE1. ( with highest possible rolled ofc).

Also Original Sin ring one of the most top notch in POE1.

Some uniques carries players from X point to Y point as well.
