Forced Routing to Australia for European Players [NETWORK LAG SPIKE THREAD]

Hey,

so I played about 200 hours of PoE2 just fine. Perfect harmony. All chill and had a lot of fun.

Since 2 days ago I cannot play in the slightest anymore so I tried looking for solutions online. Is it me or serversided. Ping does rise in a matter of seconds towards 200-300ms and falls down just as quick. Sometimes staying giga high but overall it makes the game slow down and speed up permanent.

After following GGGs guide[ to resolve connectivity issues I was a little bit shocked.

I play from inside of germany and usually I use the frankfurt or milan server. The tracert I did towards those servers sent me sometimes over australian knots. They were called po1600.whatever.globalsecurelayer.com with IPs like 206.148.26.143 and so on.

Why am I getting routed over australia and why do I see tons of people complain but no one addresses it officially? Is it a capacity problem of EA or just ISP related?for me it does not look like ISP because I go through that on the tracert without a hinge. As soon as I enter the routingtunnel towards poe it all comes crashing down.

Ye, if anybody can help I'd appreciate it but a statement and a soon to be fix would be much more encouraging then trying to fix issues on my side that are not there.

Thank you.

tl;dr
DDoS Protection (from GGG?), namely 'globalsecurelayer.com', cause lag spikes because the routing of the instance server of some european players gets FORCED over to australia

And also: The last two hops before I reach the gameserver seems to be a DDoS Protection from PoE2 Side (the australian IPs). So why am I getting sent over there?
This is very interesting, yesterday there was another topic about lagging issues

same here

Exactly 5 minutes ago, the game gets unplayable.

Tramorio explained it perfectly

I also checked the IPs so for anyone to see:

EU People getting routed over AUS. Auth Servers working perfectly but the instance server (name fetched from Poe2 Logs) just jumps over ridiculous paths.

bump
bump I have exactly the same findings. Died 5 times already loosing maps is annoying as f.
So to add to that whole topic:

It is knows since a while ago. Have never played PoE1 but apparently it was a problem there aswell. Some lads also reported it 3 weeks ago. Hope GGG actually takes a look at it.

Lagging like crazy all of sudden.

First time since I strated playing this game on release.

My internet is fine I checked that (speed test, started a download, everything working as usual)

Ran tracert just like you I get routed through Australia with some requests timing out.

To be sure I checked my connection by pinging other servers and sites, other than some time outs (Which is a known quirk of tracert), all server ping properly with low ms.
Yeah the game atm is completely unplayable. Died at 50% into 89 so thats a rip.

Ive been having this issue since the release of the game. At first, I thought it was my parent's 30mbps down internet because they live out in nowhere, but when I got home to my 1gig down the same thing happens. I've tried everything. Even in my hideout I get my MS spikes to 300ms for a second, followed by a few seconds of normal 15ms, and another spike to 300ms+

I am glad that it isnt just me, because 1gig down shouldn't be having these MS issues.

(I also sometimes have this issue on PoE but its solved by predictive. Predictive or Lockstep do nothing for me on PoE2)
Little testing update:

Played at 8 AM on Milano Server. No Problems.

Tracert the routing to instance server. Getting send over the australian hop (DDoS Protection) again but this time no latency.

Seems that this is a capacity problem and for anyone that is "too" much during prime time we get huge stutters and lags since the DDoS Server can't handle those requests anymore.
