hi, Elemental Damage with Attack Skills on weapon will not bring anything.
maybe the tooltip for stampede changes but ancestral warrior will do the same.
in order for weapon mode to work, it must use the weapon which is not our case.

I'm curious how you know it's a not working? Any Video out there or Post?

At least for the Tooltip it increases it and for me, it would make sense, because it's called "Elemental Damage with Attacks" and Ancestral Warrior and Stampede are both tagged as "Attack". It don't matter if it uses his own weapon or not. Fire Damage for example increases it as well, because both Increases are not for the Weapon Damage only, it buffs our Build as a whole.

Primal Armament for example buffs "Weapon Elemental Damage" and it increases it too, im pretty sure the "Elemental Damage with Attacks" works too.

But if im wrong, then our In-Game Tooltip is kinda trash.

from what I understand, all attack modes on weapon are for attacks that are using that weapon.
so for example attack speed will not help Ancestral Warrior either.

primal armament same as everything from the passive skill tree same as everything on any other piece of gear, is Global attack modifier.
any attack mod on weapon is local attack modifier.

look here there is an answer from GGG officially and it's explained well.

level of gems is not an attack mode and even actually not a damage mode so to say. it's only level of gems. sure in the end it is a huge buff to damage but it's not any attack/damage oriented mod. same way for example a mod like +30 to strength on weapon or cores for Spirit will count and work always, regardless if the skill attacks with it's special weapon or it is an attack with the one that has the mod.

unfortunately we don't have damage numbers shown so it will be not very easy to test it properly but i already have an idea, of taking 2 very basic maces one with elemental damage on attacks and one without, and putting very weak attack skill into ancestral warrior without supports. this way it should be possible to find some miniboss somewhere in campaign mode and look closely how it hits their health bar. tedious task but i will probably manage to do it tomorrow.

It's a kinda old Post tho. Im curious what the results are. If it won't increases then we cannot really trust the In-Game Tooltips. Either way this Build will Blast tho :D

Keep me updated!

hmm now i found this and after reading thoroughly it indeed says that the Increased Elemental Damage to Attacks is global in Poe1.

https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1ftwygz/are_mods_on_weapons_local_or_global/

I guess without real testing it's still unclear. Let me see if I find time during this day.

I've always read that increased damage on weapon works on totems 🤔 mmh something to test.

Edit : my bad. % damage in skill tree should work while it shouldn't on weapon. And % increased damage "to attack" of course works. I'll make test just to be sure

Build looks nice ! Well done totemist. I might try that one :) do you keep playing with the helmet even without energy shield points in passive tree ?

Thanks mate! And yes, I quickly go over my Defensives in my Video. I find that because we have such a High Health this is just amazing. It gives us 1.8k or more ES and a Damage Convert. I kinda enjoy this Helmet without ES aswell. Grim Fest on Top of it and we have good amount of ES without skill Points into it.
yo guys.

i tested it a bit and damage seems to be stronger.

i did not do the test with low level mace as i planned though.

i just replaced my +7 and +6 maces which added approx 200 increased elemental damage and ran Barya and it felt different somehow.

to 100% make sure, the test with simple weapons is needed, but it's very tricky.

maybe someone has a char lvl20 or lvl25 this would be perfect, to put small setup of ancestral warrior plus something (stampede, molten blast, anything) and buy 2 same base maces with one of them having increased elemental damage and other not, and go somewherer in the campaign and test.

this would be great.

testing this way with lvl92 fully built char is much much more tricky.

I strongly think it will increase it more. It's hard to test for this Skill, since you can only use Ancestral Warrior Totem at Level 52 or above. We see the In-Game Numbers go up and tbh the In-Game feel too.

Thanks for keeping engaged with it!

Coming back after thoroughly testing, yes the mod works fine, it's not a tooltip it's a global mod though being on a weapon that attacks, it boosts any other attack that is used, with or without this one weapon.

Other question: if I want to try how Stampede works being currently on Molten Blast, is it OK to leave the passive tree and equipment as is and just try the gem setup? I mean if you would straight replace your Molten Blast back then with the current skill setup, would it work OK for you? Or you had to change a lot.

Sounds great! You can actually test it right away. The only Problem you will Face is the lack of AoE on Stampede. In Order to gain a lot of it you need to change youre Tree a bit and use AoE Jewels. For a quick look on how it's played, you can swap it right away and change the Tree later on.
