POE 2 keeps crashing
I have done everything and updated almost every aspect of my PC, and I still keep getting random crashes, although my PC has the following specs:

I've been playing since the 16th December with little to no crashes.
Since the latest F patch I've crashed after every other map. With no other changes. Windows updates are disabled and I haven't rolled forward to the RTX 12/5 driver version yet. Only change being the version of the POE2 client/game. Big sad. It's infuriating. |

I bought a new laptop to test PoE 2. ASUS ROG Strix with an i9-14900HX: 32G and RTX 4070. Installed Steam and JUST PoE 2. Made a new character and hard froze the entire system on the first Miller boss. PoE hard locks my main rig, so I can't test on that anymore to avoid permanent damage.

I get crashes constantly. I've made the following changes to protect my system:
- Set affinity to not use core 0 + 1 - In my power plan, set the max cpu usage to 99% The affinity makes it so Windows does not freeze with the game, so I can end task etc. The power plan limitation lets my cpu run about ~25 degrees cooler (only applicable in this game). Just to start a game session, it would crash 3 to 4 times trying to get into my hideout. Then during play, it usually crashes at least once every 5 to 10 maps. Need to note, when it does crash, it then crashes heaps of times again before working fine for a bit. Game has a bunch of potential, but this frustration is kinda killing the vibe. Here's my PC specs, its not a potato. AMD 9800X3D 64GB DDR5 3090Ti SSD + M.2 combo Windows 11 |

Crashes are not really random, at least for me. I had a lot of the random ones in the beginning of early access. After the last patch of solving crashes, since last year, I've noticed that my crashes are around bosses. Before meeting them or during the fight. It's something along the lines of... failed to create resources for texture or something, and the word D3D12, or something like that.
So I was thinking if it's related to DX12 and I switched the engine to Vulkan and zero crashes since. Ryzen 9 + Nvidia 3000 series + 64GB RAM. After that, doing some research, I read that there is a workaround for Nvidia cards and DirectX. Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings > Shader Cache Size and set it up to 100 GB or something. You also have to delete the existing shader cached in '%AppData%\Path of Exile 2'. In the last night interview they said there is a problem with Nvidia cards drivers, or something like that, and they were asking Nvidia for advice. Some people with older Nvidia drivers mentioned they have no crashes. |

Same issues here. This is ridiculous that they know this is a problem, took our $30 and just basically gave us the middle finger. Their Support is no help they say they are not taking tickets on this, which is laughable.
Can we say Class action lawsuit??? ;) Last edited by jaymac78#2744 on Jan 13, 2025, 8:12:22 PM

Hello,
I bought the game a few days ago but been barely able to run it, as it constantly crashes, I cannot even access the game, once I click on Login, it instantly crashes and I have to restart my PC. No fix has helped me so far, do they really not look into it? |
