I have been having network issue since the new season.
tried everthing: updated grapohic card driver, reinstall, resync item filter, nothing helps. the network latency is jumping from 15ms to 5000-6000ms then disconnected. nothing helps, i tried other online games and dont have any issue. GGG please fix this. |

Ever since the release of the new season my latency has been randomly spiking sometime jumping into the thousands. After doing a short google search I found it its been a problem pretty much since launch. Now I could start trying different things people are suggesting online but why should I? This shouldn't be a issue to begin with at this point. You can nerf the entire game making all former builds garbage but don't worry because you won't actually be able to play the game long enough for it to even matter. Please fix this asap

I am connected to Washington DC. My PC has a 2.5Gbit connection to a 10G switch via Cat-7 plenum cable. The 10G switch is connected to a 1G router with a 1G fiber connection to the Internet. I usually have a 9ms-11ms connection.
I am seeing 600ms latency spikes occurring at regular intervals while playing the game. This has been gong on for about a week. I now run the game with the performance metrics running. Sometimes the gamleplace is jerky: screen freeze for 1-2 seconds and then you move. Other times, and usually during combat, the screen freezes and then it rapidly moves through a backlog of combat and freezes again. This is incredibly annoying in any combat situation because I have no idea what moves I am making but the game AI knows what it's doing. I suspect you have something hitting a limit and it is temporarily dropping connections to reset itself. Might be a network socket or more than likely someone within the server code itself. The predictable, repeated pattern of latency spikes to 600ms leads me to believe you got something dropping connections and resetting. Last edited by timmcmanus#5800 on Apr 12, 2025, 3:56:29 PM

Here is a video of the issue. Latency is now spiking to 2000ms-3000ms.
Really frustrating. https://youtu.be/IJ8z6BFclms?si=57Rtwco5K7KCUFED |

Normal latency is 10-15 ms. Constantly have spikes up to 20 000–30 000 (it is no mistake, game freezes for like 30 seconds) every minute-two.
Playing is an agony. |

Did I miss a post somewhere or is there literally 0 communication about this ? (Are they aware of the issue, is it being investigated, is it on their side or on some provider side, is it only affecting EU, is there some options to deactivate like for the nvidia bug, ...)
It's been a week now and it's still happening, the lack on info for this in all their post regarding on what will come and so on made me think it was only affecting me ... Edit : I switched to US Washington and have the same spikes ... Last edited by Skrins#6602 on Apr 13, 2025, 10:29:26 AM

For folks experiencing latency spikes, there is a free app named PingPlotter that will constantly ping the route to the POE2 servers. Enter in the server IP you are connected to and run the app. If the latency is coming from any point between you and the POE2 servers, it will show up on PingPlotter. If the issue is at the server itself, PingPlotter will also show this.
I don't work for PingPlotter, but I an a nerd and use these tools for a bunch of different things. |

Same issue as everyone else reporting on this thread, when are you guys going to address this?
I'm playing from South America connected to Washington DC which is the server that gives me the best ping. I usually have around 60ms-100ms but with the network spikes (500ms to 1k) the game has become completely unplayable. It spikes every 1 to 5 seconds or so and it gets worse the longer you play for some reason. I'm on a 400Mbps fiber connection and I'm using an ethernet cable, no wifi. Average FPS is 120 at 1440p. This only happens with PoE2. I can play other games without this kind of issue so it's either your servers or some sort of bad implementation or optimization in the code. |
