Make Melee Great for Once
That's the same thing.
Having a penalty at range is the same as having a bonus up close, insofar as the difference between close range and long range go. Personally, I feel like player Slam skills shouldn't use accuracy the same way monster slam skills don't. |
|
It is not the same thing, I engage in melee combat, while ranged can stay away. Ranged characters inherently stack Dex so they have more accuracy. I also need to stack Str, Life, Armour and potentially block, on top of that I also have to care about Accuracy which even further dilutes the amount of points I have to distribute. I should be rewarded by engaging in melee.
Slam skills should not miss, since they are AOE. Enemies AOE attacks can't miss I have to get off the way, yet my slams skills miss. There is no logic here. |
|
Also there is an accuracy impacting melee attacks like slams and what not, but no accuracy for spells? Can spark mage miss their spell attacks?

There really is not any massive over the top problems with melee.
It could use some small tweaks to maybe targetting and some more fluid combat for warrior and slams. But thats really it. Accuracy you can build easily or take RT.... Mash the clean

" Really? Compare the maces to all the recent XXX Herald Monk full screen clears or any Poison builds with prolifs. You are slow, clunky and have to resort to damage conversion to fire with cloak of flame etc. to stay alive along with stacking Strength. It is not only about the damage and skills but also about survivability. I have to stack 150% AoE nodes while any herald stacker just procs it and clears the whole screen, because why not. I had the same problems with my AoE slams missing. I can somewhat understand a strike missing due to accuracy issues but an AoE slam should be another thing all-together.
While I know the warrior has access to Resolute Technique I'd theoretically like to at least have the option to have my STR, Armour, Life, Res stacking character ALSO be able to scale damager via Crit. Maybe some "accuracy" nodes in the Warrior section of the tree that allows you to get Accuracy from STR [similar to DEX]? Maybe another wheel that gives 10 points of accuracy for each point of STR on your gear? I'd be willing to sacrifice my "Evasion" if my strikes & slams can't be evaded. |

" Okay so this is the issue you are having then. You are comparing it to... Clearly over the top and, unintended, other playstyles. And think we need to bring melee more in line with those? I dont think we need to do that. I am not doing either of the things you listed though. Ie: Strength Stacking, fire convert. And dont experience any issues either. Surviving and defenses is separate though. I agree something should be done for non-ES parts of the tree, and obviously the ES parts brought WAY down. Slow and clunky was what I was referring to with targeting and smoothing animations rather than stop and go we currently have. I do not share the views on attack speed with 2hs however if thats what you are implying. You get a metric ton of damage as the upside and you can mediate some of the attack speed as well. I rarely even use my 2h swap too. Mash the clean

" I only used comparison here to visualize the issue, GGG aimed for slower gameplay. While they achieved that for Maces it is extremely punishing that other weapons/spells did not get the same treatment. I joined the party once with everyone but maces players and I could not kill any mobs coz I was much slower than the rest with executing my skills. Metric ton of damage only happens when you go for 2H maces which are far more superior than 1H bases and have much worse implicits: Compare 2H base with Splash damage on Strike skills vs 1H Causes 100% Daze buildup. Then try e.g. to play 2x 1H maces instead of 2x 2H with Giant's Blood, you get 30% reduced attack speed on all skills, less damage due to 1h bases and you also dont stack Str meaning you have less life. What I am aiming for here are the trade offs and benefits of the weapons that are clearly in favor of 2H, but also maces are worse than Staves. Last edited by Sidushi#1349 on Jan 3, 2025, 10:55:33 AM
