Trial of Sekhemas SUCKS
Scorpion needs to be deleted.
It's so disgusting. I failed twice in a row, sinking into sand and got killed with ease. 2 Hours of my life just been wiped away. F U |

" I did my Third Ascendancy yesterday on my Invoker Monk when I was level 86. Works fine for Trial of Sekhemas. But it is well founded that the mechanics for it is punishing for new players and it will turn a lot of people away in the long run. I read some Youtube tips and actually the it with my Gas Arrow Dead eye. I survived all the way up to the Scorpion with only 1.8k Honour and almost didn't make it. This time round I realized I can stack Honour with relics. So my monk went in with 5.8k Honour and no problems. Rampage IGN : Cool_Hamster

I suggest people keep trying and work on their build and how they are actually playing.
Completed both T3 and T4 ascendancies on a ranged and melee character first try, I wasn't over geared and went in blind apart from knowing I need to collect the glowing orbs in T4. While many inc me often are saying #SkillIssue and it can be antagonising etc, genuinely where the vast majority are able to complete the content you need to take sometime and reflect on what you are doing. Your gear, passive skills etc all act as multipliers, small adjustments can lead to vast differences in your survivability and damage. Simple things like say as a monk using tempest bell where you ensure you apply ALL ailments can more then double the dps you do with it. Last edited by fancy_crab#3104 on Jan 3, 2025, 1:31:23 AM

As a relatively new player I thought at first 'well a little challange, why not'. Meanwhile I fully understand the hate. I am 10lvl overleveled 75, cant beat it.
You have to redo the whole floors again including first boss fight? What a horrible design decision and waste of my life time. I love the game, but this alone is enough to think about quitting. Make a saving point after each floor! I killed the boss! Why shall I do all again? Please dont say 'grind 20 hours more for gear' 'try it 10 times more'. It is a hobby, it shall be fun. |

I like the Trial of the Sekhemas for ranged characters currently...it seems fair, but I know that it must be awful for melee characters. I hope there's some way to make it reasonable for melee characters instead of changing how we ascend.
If I were lvling a melee character now, and I had to do trial of the sekhemas, I would try to set up a weapon swap. Just save weapon swap points, and put my second set of points into totems, and use shockwave totems to get my first ascendancy. You might be able to do this w/out disrupting your primary, melee build. Last edited by composition2#1614 on Jan 3, 2025, 1:56:36 AM

" Not for Monks though. They breeze through it. Not sure about Warrior. I have made one but haven't made it to ACT 2. My Ranger and Monk did ok with 3rd Ascendancies. Rampage IGN : Cool_Hamster

It takes time.
There are a lot of enemies, gimmick bosses, and traps that suddenly appear. If you try it for Ascendancy, everyone fails because there is no relic. I don't want it to be Ascendancy content. |

" A large part of the game is increasing your effectiveness - this revolves around your passive skill tree build, skill gems, support gems and equipment. This optimisation/character improvement "IS" the game and is fun. Else go download Diablo 2 or something and modify the game so you are invincible and 1 shot everything if that is the measure of fun for you. I'd be very sure that across these areas you are missing a lot of opportunities beyond simply "play more and upgrade your gear". Share your build etc here, or with people you know to have more experience and I'm sure you can then do more damage/have more survivability. I'd barely played PoE1 but the amount of complaining with regards to the 3rd Ascendancy when people can't grasp the concept of stopping dps for a moment and how to not have him "dive" on top of you (hint: if you stand where he jumps out of the sand he won't land back there) is mind boggling and it's something I've seen to be the main issue in 9 out of 10 instances where people have shared a recording of the fight. The remainder being they do the mechanics right, but have built their character poorly and do hardly any damage. I had a friend that was doing no damage, surprise surprise, due to this, they'd taken all the mana regen skills they could get their hands on, which, as no surprise, meant they did hardly any damage and had little to no survivability beyond their base equipment's stats... working with them to fix this meant they stopped having mana issues and had markedly more damage and survivability. |

" i ended up getting a lvl 90 ranger to do it for me for 4 ex orbs and he used his key...absolute champion im a monk too and the honour system is just dumb, they should make all the mobs/bosses do ranged attacks so its fair for everyone i got a 4th ascendancy key drop and i dont even want to attempt it i clear t15 just fine without it. busted game atm |

" I completed T4 Ascendancy fine on my monk and it's not even doing T15s yet. Perhaps participate in the games systems (relics) to make it more approachable and be mindful of what afflictions/boons you take/pathing to merchants etc. You can even specifically do the trial with the focus on setting yourself up for the final boss VS trying to path and get keys in the earlier levels - can also look to purchase boons etc that pay off more in this way. |
