I truly hope they change their mind on a new PoE1 season

PoE2 bones are probably the best game (Definitely best ARPG) i've played. And I really don't want them to split dev time between the two games. PoE1 should just go into maintence mode so we can get full dev time on PoE2

Since I much prefer POE over POE 2, I would like them to shift all their efforts into the next POE 1 league. Thankfully, for the rest of the player-base, neither you or me get to make those decisions.
I don't think so. I like the direction PoE2 is heading, and I probably won't play PoE ever again. However, some people, like insectbrain, prefer PoE over PoE2 and that's totally fine.

They said they would maintain both games with frequent updates (more in the case of PoE2 at least before release) and I would hate if they stopped adding new leagues content to PoE. If they manage to keep a steady player base in PoE and get a lot of new players to PoE2, they could keep both games updated, and I think that it was their intention.

Also, unless every supporter plays PoE2 (and they obviously don't all play PoE2), that would also be such a big breach of trust that GGG probably wouldn't recover from it.

what even is this thread? apart from like 10 people all of them are already working on poe2. poe1 barely had any dev time in the past few years. this year we only got 2 leagues when it used to be 4 before poe2 took away all the devs. you dont even want those of us who prefer poe1 to have that tiny skeleton crew?

No, they only moved people from PoE1 development to PoE2 because they wanted it out to early access, now that is done there is some more work to do but most of it has been done and just needs the polish/tweaking before it goes to EA for you to test.

PoE1 in the mean time is still a money maker, and they are not going to drop support for it because they are trying to increase player uptime, if a league fails they'll have another league in a few months or less instead of waiting the 3-4 months before having something else to do.
Not that PoE1 needs a lot of developers anyway, they have been putting out leagues for the last year+ with a handful of devs, it they put some more people on it the next league is likely to be good.

Unfortunately, any company that produces a product no matter what it is. If they come out with a newer version the original one is usually phased out. Which I think would be a shame because POE1 is still a very viable game.
I mean, I truly am expecting one MAYBE two more PoE1 Leagues... then thats it. On with PoE2. Thankfully.

Once PoE2 irons out it's issues everything that makes poe1 great will be in poe2.

PoE1 has a really hard time bringing in new players because it's so convoluted with nonsense.

PoE2 with all of it's information built into the game already... it's going to be a huge success.
New POE1 season is a great idea, then all the regular forum cryhards can go back to complaining how it's the worst POE season ever like they do every season and devs might be able to get some decent POE2 feedback that isn't drowned out by oceans of salty tears.

Yep, until people reach endgame, spend 15 minutes in crappy map layouts, backtrack another 5 minutes for killing rares and not encountering one citadel in over 100 hours. Then there is the slog of a campaign (3 acts still missing). On top of all these issues you are absolutely gimped with loot, except you trade.

Good luck bringing people all 3 months back to run through this slog
