Compromised PoE Accounts: Stolen Items and Hacked Accounts - Discussion and Leads

I'm sorry what?

This thread is just an interresting case study on conspiracy theories.

Just read the posts - someone says something - next person copies it - suddenly its a known fact. People then ask "was there anything suspicious" - obviously if you are asked like that you will also think about something - and that then becomes a fact too etc.

But anyways this also is the fault of GGG - probably not for the security itself but for having almost no support for ppl that have those issues - so its normal that people become annoyed.

Btw. i cant tell if its connected to POE since i lack the logs - but i doubt it - but my mail account has a ton of failed login attempts from all over the world. Seems like this is becoming more agressive in general.

What i dont get is why MS for example allows that. If they get login attempts vfrom all over the world within hours they should give ppl the ability to block logins from other regions etc. or change the login to a new login name etc.

Anyways - so watch out and have a different password for your mail than for other stuff and maybe use 2 factor auth on your mail. I think the most dangerous thing is if someone gets access to a game account etc. - and also to the e-mail - since then he has complete control.

Do you seriously think at least 200 people haven't been hacked? "Hundreds or thousands" means that I think it's either 200-999 people, or maybe even more than 1000. Maybe I should've worded it "hundreds to thousands". My English isn't perfect although I thought the meaning was pretty obvious. I don't think it's as egregious claim as you saying GGG won't do something that they literally stated that they did in the past.

Less than 50 people that were hacked posted here. Yes I counted. The game was redeemed more than a million times.
I don't care about reddit or any other place.

The proper place to write about something is the official forums. Or do they have something to hide?

Let's put things into perspective a bit.

So far in this thread that's been visible on the front of help:
46 people reported being hacked.
6 people are conspiracy theorists, just saying their own thing.
1 close call that acted in time and managed to prevent the item steal.
14 people that are asking questions.

The conversations started to become a bit frenzied, and changed on each page. At some point it became "THOUSANDS" of people that were hacked, and people kept going with that.

In the conversations followed, people's story turned to "THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO GOT HACKED ON CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALL." An absurd statement, honestly if you take 2 seconds to think about it.

And in the entire thread a lot of people who got hacked themselves reported in their initial posts about using 3th party tools they thought were previously secure.

That too changed as more pages appeared. With people saying "WHAT ABOUT THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT DON'T USE 3TH PARTY APPS."

The stories evolve the more questions are asked, and the people asking the questions are being vilified for asking.

Some people reported seeing other logins on their steam accounts. Clear case of session hijack.

Some people in the thread I suspect of being new accounts given their ridiculous usernames that are tightly connected to the current scenario being discussed.

I'd love to make a concise compilation, but honestly, it's just disheartening how disingenuous people are, say one thing, then later add a very vital information post facto being brought up in a question.

Sigh.

And you think you can investigate this in a thread just by reports done by people.

Just like this person said, the story keeps evolving and becomes a matter of fact.

Also, I really wanna meet the person that farmed 9 mirrors in three weeks. Or the ones with hundreds of divine orbs. Clearly there's something suspicious here.

The only thing we agree on is GGG needs to investigate everyone that posted here, and review their trade.

I believe the person used translation service or AI to translate their post. Hence why you see "Here is a clear and understandable English translation of your text:"

And it looks like its mostly false, I searched for the news but there is no reports.

You are all just way too happy to believe anything as long as it conforms with what you think is happening.

Nobody is getting their items back. It's never been done before, it won't be done now.

You not have been able to find any specific details or information on the matter, and that’s understandable.
You are essentially a "user" of Google, someone who relies only on search engines to look for answers.

The information I have shared here is carefully selected to ensure it does not interfere with the investigation. While you might consider this data inaccurate or incomplete, that’s your right.

However, this post is intentional because it represents only a limited part of the available information.

Simply put, you have only a small piece of the "puzzle." Providing further specific details could cause harm.

I informed my commander about you, and we had a laugh.
(Topic about big conspiracies, Tin Tin Hat and the like!)

He had this to say about you.
"You are the weak link in the chain. You will never be a paratrooper Goodbye!"

oh I just saw that my "old" post was edited! so I understand why this reaction.
Because the information "violated" the rules...

Agreed 100% even from the other end of the spectrum

User says "i dont use 3rd party overlays or apps"

Random poster who hasnt been hacked yet "its likely the overlays, uninstall them, run a virus scan and format your pc, you know what, maybe its safer to just buy a new hdd"

Take the time to read each person post who was hacked.
Only 1 or 2 reported not having third party apps installed. That doesn't mean they haven't installed anything else that's cracked or unofficial.

When someone says third party app, that means in relation to the game itself. Something they use for the game. Like path of building, an overlay. ETC.

Take a moment to read through the posts and you'll see whether there is even a case to be made from the other end of the spectrum.

What gives you the right to accuse someone of something like that? There is absolutely nothing suspicious about me. I simply played a lot and was lucky enough to drop an extremely valuable item. By the way, I even have pictures of the drop because I could hardly believe it myself and sent the images to a friend. I’ve uploaded them here for you to see.
A few hours after I auctioned this jewel on POE Trades, all my things were gone
These pictures were taken a few hours before I was hacked. Simply because I was extremely happy about the drop and was finally able to upgrade my gear with the proceeds

I have never installed any third-party programs, except for the game itself, which I played via 2FA and Steam, and my login to POE Trade, also via 2FA and Steam. The only other thing I use is the Neversink loot filter, which is completely legal.

I'm not accusing. I'm saying it's suspicious.
Mirrors?
Hundreds of divines?

In this game that everyone complains that currency doesn't drop?

It's the same right that people here are exercising to accuse GGG of having vulnerabilities based on botched stories that don't make sense and constantly evolve where only 50 people are having these issues out of millions of redeems.

Sure you got lucky and found a really good item. But who are the people that have the currency to buy it?

Also, why are you so defensive?

Don't you think GGG should examine the trades of the people that got hacked? Or you just want them to restore their currency to the people here that say "I got hacked, I lost 50 divines."

And GGG to go. "Sorry, here are 50 divines for you."

If that's the case: HEY GGG I got hacked and lost 50 mirrors.

And you can prove your 50 mirrors and they would also be found in your logs? I think less so

Why should I care about how people got their items or currency through PoE Trades? I had a good drop, sold it for around 100 Divines, and used that to pay for my gear. A few hours later, I was excited to keep playing, only to find my account completely cleaned out. Literally empty—my character is naked, and only my worthless currency was left. I can even prove all of this. I can tell support exactly when and where I got the drop, when I listed it on the market, and exactly when I must have been hacked. I even have screenshots and pictures to back it up. So stop talking down to others. I’ve already sent all this information to support myself about 8-9 days ago.
