Trade overhaul

I’m new to the Path of Exile universe and have been having a blast exploring everything PoE 2 has to offer during early access! I’ve leveled my Invoker Monk all the way to 78 (woohoo!) despite not always having the best gear. But hey, that’s part of the journey, right?

That said, I can’t help but feel that the trading system could use a little love. Here’s where I’ve run into some hiccups:

Sometimes sellers don’t respond, or they’re unavailable when I’m ready to trade.

Other times, I’m just too slow, and someone else snatches up the item I wanted. Then I question if I overpaid for item. Then I’m back to square one, repeating searches for gear. It can feel like a bit of a time sink.

There also needs to be way to look at overall market price, which does not include going to the trade site and putting in the exact or similar stats to get a gauge on the pricing for the time; yet another time suck.

I’ve been thinking about ways the system could be a bit more player-friendly without taking away from the thrill of hunting for the perfect item. Here are a few ideas:

Asynchronous Trading: Imagine if we could place items in a public stash tab with fixed prices. That way, buyers could grab what they need instantly, even if the seller isn’t online.

Purchase Alerts and Auto-Buy: How about setting alerts for items that match your desired stats and price range? Better yet, why not let the system auto-buy the item for you when it’s posted? Less waiting, more slaying!

Global Trade Hub: A central marketplace in-game where we can list, browse, and buy items would make trading smoother and reduce reliance on third-party tools.

Auction House or Bidding System: Auctions could add a fun, competitive twist to trading. Got your eye on something? Throw in a bid and see if you can snag it!

Trade Moderation and Quality Checks: Showing average prices for similar items or flagging suspicious deals could make trading more transparent and fair.

I have a lot of faith in GGG and their ability to craft an amazing experience. It’s clear they care deeply about their game and their community, and I’m hopeful they’re keeping an eye on feedback from the player base about the current state of the market system. Trading has so much potential to enhance gameplay, and I’d love to see it reach its full potential.

I’m loving my time with PoE 2 and can’t wait to see how the game evolves. These are just some thoughts I’ve had while navigating the world and juggling trades. The game’s depth is incredible, and I can only imagine how much better it will get!

Cheers, and happy grinding!
It's a slap in the face to gamers in 2025.

sorry but this is the best you can do?

you have a game on console and a function called "trade" but I need a internet browser? lmao

It can't be "it's always been this way"
Valve says they will never delete stolen items to risk the change of rarity and price of items, so I guess they technically have some inner identities on items generated. It is part of the infrastructure of the game database, so there needs hell of efforts.
An in game trade system for items REALY MUST be implemented.

Just sick of sending 20-30 private message trying to buy an item and getting no response of not being able to sell my items because i cant just spend countless hours every day in game just hoping that someone will send me a message
Trade manifesto makes perfect sense. It's not just about people wanting to trade more, it's about AH creating a massive downward pressure on item prices and increasing availability, i.e. a lot more items on the market at much lower price.

Trading will become even more preferable to crafting. Drop rates will have to be even lower, which will also affect SSF players.
really regret paying for EA.

drop sucks and trade is epic fail.

quiting the game till they fix trade
YES! Totally agree!

We have to tab-out to the website to search for items, send whisper, go back to the game and wait. Then 9 out of 10 times there is no respond. Wait for a minute or 2 and try another seller. Then again no response from that seller. Sometimes I have to repeat this half a dozen times until I get a responding seller. Sometimes I just give up after wasting 20 mins of alt-tabbing and waiting. It's next to impossible to buy things this way.

Please PLEASE make item trading like currency exchange, where I can search and buy automatically without tabbing out of the game.

Auction House / Automated Item Trading hurts their stash bloat, and directly detracts from the appeal of "premium tabs."

I 100% agree this game cries out for a trading system. Any self-respecting individual that tries to trade in PoE2, especially late-game, especially for 1 or 2 exalt items, and especially for very desirable items, understands how shit it is.

But the sad reality is stash bloat and premium tabs go hand in hand, and without stash tab sales imagine how much poorer GGG would be.

They can keep the premium tabs as requirement to list items for sale. Just automate the tedious and borderline non-functional manual transaction process.

Heck, they can even charge a transaction fee. This may even help slowing down the hyper inflation.
They should just copy what Last Epoch does with trading/SSF, as well as crafting at this point honestly.

Yes, it's super frustrating trying to trade as a casual player. I don't want to spend my limited time in game trading, but I also don't want to scrap the good drops just because I won't use them.

This entire thread can be summed up as: stop reducing our fun, there's a currency exchange, just do similar for items in game.
