"If I'd Asked People What They Wanted, They Would've Said Faster Horses."
But they aren't making an automobile, they are removing the saddle from the horse and hobbling it. Currently PoE2 seems to want to hammer everything down to an 'acceptable' power level to GGG so people can walk slowly through empty maps and don't blast maps/bosses TOO fast. Because they are still getting blasted once builds come online. Skills and supports are extremely limited, instead of giving us tools and letting us create combos GGG has designated them and seem resistant to anything that organically emerges outside their vision. This design philosophy is completely at odds with what makes ARPG's fun which is making builds and getting stronger. PoE1 especially is beloved because there are so many options and unique interactions. That is what make people come back to play more, fun build crafting and cool skill interactions. No one is going to come back every league to "experience" backtracking at 2 MPH through an empty map and rolling around Count Geonor for the 400th time.

Thank you for wasting my time with a completely irrelevant analogies that basically boils down to "players shouldn't give feedback on what they consider fun and not fun on a game in early access".
Do you know what made GGG successful as a studio? They listened to player feedback. And yeah, you claiming "there is no good feedback" tells me you haven't read a single thread, you are just pontificating a narrative to further your agenda. Whenever you get your head out of your arse, realize that most people aren't crying for a re-skinned poe1. They are complaining over legitimate problems that make the gaming experience less enjoyable. If POE1 did something better than POE2, the goal should not be to make that thing back into what POE1 did, but rather do it BETTER than that. Passive tree? Downgrade. Crafting? Downgrade. Ascendancies? Downgrade. Melee skills? Downgrade. Gems? Downgrade. Current endgame mechanics? Downgrade. I'm not asking for POE1 reskinned. I'm asking for solution to problems I find NO FUN. And many, many people agree with that. My suggestion is to fix those problems, not make it carbon copies of POE1. IF you actually engage with people with criticism rather than trying to sell them the dumbest analogy I've ever read, you'd improve the forum, and maybe improve POE2 along the way. You chose not to do that. Last edited by eldheim#2436 on Dec 19, 2024, 5:35:23 PM

I'd wish people that doesn't want poe1 reskinned engaged in debates about how to meet people that doesn't like the current mechanics without that happening, instead of calling them idiots.
That's all. Last edited by eldheim#2436 on Dec 19, 2024, 5:38:55 PM

Isn't PoE in general the "faster horse" if you look at its place in the gaming landscape?
It's a game franchise trying to capture oldschool feel That's some of what was very appealing about the game in the first place In fact a selling point And there's nothing wrong with that You analogy doesn't work so well imo when applied to entertainment |

The problem, Eldheim et al, is that nobody is giving the feedback "I am having trouble enjoying [X] aspect of the game, for these reasons."
The feedback, from ALL players on ALL fronts, is "This SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS! I wanna BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!!!!!! Lemme be super fast and super powerful and super awesome and super insane and super cool, like in PoE1111111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!" You see it over and over again. To quote directly from a few posts up: "This design philosophy is completely at odds with what makes ARPG's fun which is making builds and getting stronger." All they want is power. More of it. More power, more movement, more blasting, more bigger badder numbers, more more more MOAAAAARRRR. This is what makes some ARPGs fun for some people. And frankly I would argue Path of Exile 1 is actively fucking terrible at it, since fewer than four percent of the playerbase can even get to a level where they can begin "having fun" in the exercise in absolute insane absurdity that is the first game. Some of us do not like games where you can simply outgear everything and become an ultra-invincible hypergod of supreme supermurder that never has to even look at the screen again until/unless their loot filter tells them one of their five hundred thousand drops is worth picking up. I am honestly worried about my current Stormweaver, because even just partway into Act 1 Cruel she can freeze everything on the screen with essentially no effort and anything but beefy blues or yellows then proceeds to die to Cold Snap for free. She's incredibly fragile at the moment but that generally doesn't matter because she deals so much damage and freezes enemies so effortlessly than nothing gets a chance to hit her. Sometimes the game wioll throw combinations of mods and critters that make me pay more attention - the Eternal Knights with the projectile reflection shields were a real pain - but this feels more like PoE1-esque blasting than I was hoping to see in my PoE2. This game was supposed to be a different tack, a different take. A new paradigm. Does it need help? Absolutely. It does NOT need three hundred instant-teleport movement skills, it does NOT need tiny maps you can clear in less than thirty seconds, it does NOT need lootsplosions fit to make Borderlands blush, it does NOT need builds that act like PoE1 builds. It does not need faster horses. |
