Leveling Alts is PAINFULL!!! heres a solution...
if you remeber way back in diablo 3 they had those gems that you can turn any weapon into a level 1 weapon, so why not implement something like that so that we can speed level alts to the end game, since i mean we already did the campaign already if we got to end game, so why slog through it again and take 2 weeks to get to end game for the average player. and the 2 weeks came from a person having a 9-5 job, only having like 4-5 hours a day to play. ALSO for anyone who has an issue with this, whats the issue? it dont affect anyone elses game play, its just a mekanism to help speed through the campaign for alt characters.

" Ok, lots to unpack here, I think the fact that leveling alts is an insane grind, especially for a game in EA, is good feedback. I think instantly auto-leveling an alt with a button press is flat out the wrong solution. Thankfully, it’s so absurdly at-odds with how they’ve designed the game I don’t think there’s any risk of them doing anything close to it. “Also, for anyone who has an issue with this what’s the issue? It doesn’t affect anyone else’s game play” I mean that’s just about the weakest argument in existence. It could apply to basically anything. That same statement also applies to something like “No one should have to play the campaign even once, just press a button to skip it on your first character and be instantly max level in endgame” Under your framework that too “doesn’t impact others experience”. It’s also flat out wrong - instantly leveling alts will result in more people farming endgame gear, messing with the trade economy. |

the level 1 token is an ITEM that you place on a weapon or piece of armor to help you level alts AGAIN through the campaign. i think you misunderstood what i said, im not asking for a boost like in wow, im asking for the same mechanic that was in diablo 3 that helps us level alt characters. and in this game, we could use all the help we can get since the levels are so long and basically a time sink to get past them.

So you absolutely have means to offload & store some of your loot as you go through the game.
But you don't want that. You want a nice clean easy way out to pick some strongest gear and slap magical "it's now good for lvl1" tag onto it. Well no, it's absolutely not going to fly. Stash tab sales are probably the most sustainable source of revenue for GGG, and you're trying to push an idea that will result in stash becoming less useful. They will never go for it. |

since you are kind of confused on what i mean. let me give you a scenerio.
1) league starts you level a character to end game the regular way. 2) you farm end game build up currency on main character 3) you use items and currency to craft level 1 token IN game. 4) use level 1 token on level 70 item which makes it useable on level 1 char 5) speed through the campaign on alt character to end game. 6) buy more stash tabs to hold all the loot for all your alt characters 7) profit for GGG and you. 8) also this puts more characters at end game to buy gear from ppl moving the economy along. |

it wouldn't be bad if we could just get random maps to play through instead of doing the campaign again, like level 1 mapping?

" ... and there is your answer. you use that currency to buy low lvl gear for your alts |

yeah but the gear you make and buy at level wont speed you through the acts. it will still take 25+ hours to complete. with a level 70 item at level 1 you could probably complete the campaign in 5 hours. which is doable for someone who has a day job.

I don't see most players wanting to do this long campaign every 3 months(possibly on multiple characters per league) when seasonal content starts for this game.
They're gonna lose sooo many players if they don't streamline the campaign and make it faster/cut down the size of zones and add more things that lead you to quest objectives in the game. Like people already dislike doing the short and solved campaign of PoE 1, what makes you think they would want to slog through this walking simulator of a campaign? I think both campaign skip and alternative leveling methods are both good ways to make the campaign not a boring chore. If people could just level to 70 or 65 or whatever by doing maps that are scaled down to their level, or some other side-content that will be in the game later(I dunno something like delve or heist) that would be great. Like it's cool that the game has nice graphics but you'll get pretty sick of seeing the same old zones and bosses and animations that take 5 years for the boss to become active and attackable after the 4th 5th 6th run through lol The campaign is (kind of)fine in isolation, if you purely look at it as gameplay for a typical singleplayer diablo-clone where you just "beat" it once and never come back to it or you play it again when an expansion is out in a few years. But this game is not that, the current campaign will be horrible for their player retention in future leagues. Last edited by Toforto#2372 on Dec 15, 2024, 10:45:54 AM

Let me start by saying D4 is at best mediocre (which is fine btw for what it's meant to be). However, it did one thing right and that's not having to play the campgain on any character after you've completed it one time.
I had no problem in POE1 doing the campgain (didn't like it though) as I could go through it in like 8 to 12 hours depending on loot which is alright, but in POE2 that's basically impossible just by the seer size of the maps (which is another issue in itself) GGG should look into implementing mechanics that would be an alternative to going through it every 3 months. |
