Replacing Runes on Gear
Big problem with this game isnt just runes though its the general volatility regarding gear.
Everything is disposable, cant even keep a nice base that you like the look of anymore. Want to craft something but get a bad mod, tough luck, want to change your runes, tough luck, just got a 20 qual nice base with 1 or 2 good mods but your regal and ex slams turned out bunk, deal with it. Alterations and Scours need to make a return, and runes do need to be replaceable, however i do think soul cores should be a more permanent fixture if they want to keep some kind of limitation imo. It would be more of a final step to your build, or they could add something that acts like vaal orbs or w/e and make some fancy gameplay element out of it. It is genuinely hard work to fully cap res for mapping in this game because of this. you rely on either the base to have the res, either via essence or regular crafting path or, you rely on being able to socket as many runes as possible to bolster the res and then you are stuck with it. Dont get me wrong its great now having a more balanced loot drop rate but the lack of freedom with the gear really ticks me off. i am wholly uninterested in crafting because of this. I tend to find most of my upgrades already waiting for me in the shops. The only catch is adding alt/scours would make rarer mods more accessable and they would need to make them more rare to compensate or make the currency itself a rare thing. They could add a currency that has a chance to remove a socketed rune or destroy it. |

It's not a bad replacement for bench crafting, but not being able to remove the runes is just bad. |

" the worst part you can't even have tiny bit of control over your gear even for simple tasks. bad luck with exalt smashing? come back after 20 maps Last edited by Pugovkin#5314 on Dec 13, 2024, 7:13:45 AM

Yeah, I have to agree. Let us either a) save the rune while sacrificing the item, or b) save the item, while sacrificing the rune. There's an opportunity cost either way, so you're not just cycling runes through your gear endlessly, but it would still allow a little more flexibility which the system feels like it needs.

I agree. At the very least it should be possible to destroy runes in items that haven't been corrupted. I think it's fine if runes can't be replaced in mirrored / corrupted items.

Since there are no resistance nodes in skill tree, only runes can be used to balance resistances when you get new piece of gear, and since they are permanent, that is not an option now. |

Thanks for your replies guys!
It's very important that players who feel like they have the same issue express their concerns and possibly a solution to their problem. |

Dude absolutely agreed, PLEASE DEVELEPOR GODS, HEAR OUR PRAYERS! HEAR OUR CRY. Bless us this holidays with JUSTICE! FOR ALL! (all theatrics aside, i 1000% agree with what this man said.) thanks a lot POE DEVS. <3 the game

Yea, runes are basically for res, but having them locked in basically means that if you want to cap your res, you have to replace all of your gear at the same time, which is bad.

" Exactly my thought. Why restrict crafting so much just to be different from POE1 or D4? It is no fun anymore. The moment you use a rune, it might be the best choice at the time. But a short time later, it could completely ruin the item for you because you have a new piece of equipment somewhere else and your resistances are out of balance. You have to find the exact same piece of equipment again without a rune in it. That's nonsense. In POE1, horticrafting gave you the ability to change one resistance to another. There was a price to pay and that was perfectly fine. But in POE2 that option was taken away as well. It's terrible, because resistance is so important in this game and maxing all resistances was a pain in POE1 already. Last edited by Denyla#1375 on Dec 16, 2024, 10:28:23 PM
