The Boss Fights in PoE2 Feel Exhausting

to add to exhaustion besides the huge health pools it`s really annoying how bad hit boxes of AOE attacks are. it happens so often that you are visually outside of an effect but still get hit with full force, especially if you just have a split second and that is the max distance a roll will get you. as if this game needed to be harder or more unfair :D
The boss fights are the most fun and exciting part of the game for me. I really appreciate how much effort went into designing different boss mechanics and fighting a boss for 5 mins while experiencing all those mechanics and running low on health potions feels epic.
Please don't take that experience away by nerfing bosses in general, I would rather have something like 2 difficulty modes then.

I just don’t find learning boss mechanics fun or rewarding. If that’s going to be a core part of Path of Exile 2, then maybe it’s just not for me. And I guess that’s okay, as long as PoE1 continues to get updates. I’d love to get into PoE2, but I just can’t bring myself to care about or put effort into the boss fights.

Path of Exile 1 will absolutely continue to get updates. It's been hit harder than anyone, including Grinding Gear, thought by the needs of POE2, butthey have no intention of abandoning it despite shitty memes to the contrary from the community.

For me I feel powerful when I overcome a tough fight, not when mobs or bosses are loot pinatas.

And I think that's wonderful. But why cant we have both? It seems like GGG is splitting its player base. Why cant POE2 have a more "standard" mode?

In part, because of the community's terrible perception and treatment of Ruthless modes and Ruthless players. Ruthless players are basically soft-banned from these forums, any time anyone tries to talk about their Ruthless experience they get viciously screamed at until they leave.

The idea of cordoning off the intended game experience in a 'Ruthless' mode is basically telling everyone who bought into the bill of goods GGG sold us prior to the EA drop for PoE2 "you guys suck and aren't part of the community; here's a jail cell you can play in while we ignore you and cater to the Zoomer Boomer Blaster Masters and them alone for the second game in a row."

And in part because creating a game mode that's just PoE1 but wearing PoE2's shredded, mutilated skin - whether the original game is called Ruthless and PoE1-wearing-POE2's-skin is called "Standard" or whether the original game is called "Standard" and the zombie-skinwalker mode is called "Easy" or such - destroys any reason for them to've made Path of Exile 2 in the first place. They're trying to evolve the genre as a whole and seek a new audience of people who didn't even know this was their favorite kind of game, exactly the way Soulslikes did. Turning their new game into simply a butchered clone of their old one would render the entire effort utterly meaningless.

The folks for whom this is not the case and PoE1 is exactly the game they love? They have PoE1. It'll get a new league in February sometime, and it does suck that 2024 was such a thin year for PoE1 fans. It does. Here's hoping the next league for POE1 isn't some weird nonsensical stinker like Trial of the Ancestors.

You're absolutely correct, they told us PoE1 had a crew of 10 for the duration of settlers to pump out 2. Everyone seems to have misinterpreted it as forever. I'm really looking forward to enjoying both games, but neither is perfect. I think the campaign is good here and bad in one and the reverse for endgame. Since I'll be spending most of my time in endgame I really hope they retune the punishment there. Way too severe, and multiple things can cause you to be punished, death yes, but DC, LAG, Crash. The can change balance to address the lopsidedness there, or they can keep that and lower punishment/give portals, but something needs to change.
I agree and I played POE1 since day one and enjoyed it but was challenging.

POE 2 is beyond challenging for me as I might have 1-2 during the week to play and 3-5hrs on the weekend.

I'm a decent player, been playing ARPGs before most of you were born. But this is ridiculous

I have tried every character and my issue is gear, I keep hitting walls and can't progress because no gear, no mats. My new Ranger lightning build is the only one I've been successful at rolling through all bosses except the Ogham village boss. I can't dodge and shoot enough and the dodge mechanics don't give enough time to shoot arrows and move again in time before I get hit.

I love the game except the movement mechanics and action by the character it's way to slow
I do not like these boss fights, takes much too long and getting one shotted just is no fun at all. Hope they change this.
I find most boss fights tedious and frustrating. After getting a higher DPS build, a many of these fights become more reasonable. But there are some that are just have WAY too much HP, like Greanor and Zalmaranth. I have wiped 50+ times total on these bosses combined, and maybe 4 on every other boss I have faced put together.

These two have too much health.

This is related to overall lack of balance in skills/builds, lack of viable build diversity. These bosses are tuned for the 3-4 viable OP builds that currently exist, and anything else will bore you to death, or frustrate you by 1-shotting you after 10 minutes of flawless dodge-rolling.

Then it drops the same as a random trash rare, so it is 100% not worth it to ever do it again. This makes it feel like a chore, not a reward for completing the act.

You are supposed to farm some currency and go on the trade site to buy a weapon. With good weapons the bosses dies quickly enough and they feel pretty fun. You will also just one shot every white and blue mob making the game feel pretty much like poe1.
