The Boss Fights in PoE2 Feel Exhausting
" I personally love souls games, but I feel their core mechanics and poe's clash once the campaign ends. In souls games I'll show up to a boss underprepared and die 40 times until my stubborness wins out. Ive got unlimited attempts to learn the details of the fights. In path of exile where trading exists bosses have to have an 'opportunity cost' to them or drop crappy items. This cost limits how much i can experiment with their mechanics. I'm not willing to take any risks to learn what moves I can tank and what's a 1 shot because it's not worth losing the entry fee. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

Saying the game should change because it's not your power fantasy, the game might just not cater to you. Not every game has to be catered to you because else, it will stop catering to other people who enjoy this kind of game and what makes you power fantasy stand above that of the rest?
You might not like souls-like games. millions of other players do. So go play diablo or PoE1 that might be more suited to your power fantasy. Another mistake in your post is that PoE2 is not a souls-like. A souls-like has the bosses are actually more interesting then pressing one attack button for 40 minutes till it goes down because you need to plough through 5.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 hp with abilities that hit for 60. |

" Actually souls-likes have also bosses like this, especially if you fight them underpowered. Like in PoE2. |

All this senseless fighting over how the game should be or not be souls like with no middle groud is pointless. They have league settings that tune difficulty already in the game but private leagues aren't available yet.
If you play solo found league, you don't get group play or trading but enemies hp is lower and drop rate of items is much higher. There could simply be a soul like league complete with 1-shot 10mill hp bosses for those who want it and a separate casual league for those who prefer to not use meta builds/min max. If all the casual players are playing their own league you'll get less complaining and can continue to play the harder souls league. I have enjoyed playing this game solo but when playing with a 3 or more party the scaling makes boss fights 40 min slogs that just exhaust the party and results in us changing game. |

I enjoy some of the boss fights in this game. My issue at the core however, is they said in maps you'd usually have bosses existing in "1 in 3 maps", which led me to believe if you wanted to just wander around and skip bosses completely you pretty much could, forever. What they neglected to mention was that there'd be basically no way to get higher tier waystones to drop without fighting bosses. Yes, I know you can combine waystones to get a tier higher, but you're massively slowing yourself down this way by not just fighting a boss. Additionally bosses drop much better loot than any rare pack, so again you're playing suboptimally by not bossing.
What I liked most about PoE1 was once you hit maps you could pretty much play how you wanted/doing what content you wanted. Most of that content isn't even in PoE2/may never be, so it's really just a lot of boss fights, both through the campaign and in maps. |
