Could they do 2 seperate modes?

"

That would be nice, but I'm very sceptical of this happening (with anyting that will result in huge visual overhauls)
They already did do it in some ways
And yeah, it looked nicer
But nothing like PoE 1 > PoE 2 improvements
I think there's a limit to how much they can do
But who knows
I'm certainly no expert

Fair. Though I think the engines share a lot of similarities/are different versions of the same thing. I know some features in PoE1 were ported from the second while it was in development (unless I'm just going crazy).

So maybe it would work.

If they could do that AND keep new leagues going in PoE1 alongside PoE2 = win-win. Then people could just play the super fast version, or the slower more methodical one depending on what they feel like.

Dumb idea? (maybe)

Nope. Good idea. Perfect idea. GGG gave Ruthless to the few fans of minimal PoE, why not give a less punishing PoE2 to, let's face it, the broad base of players?

It certainly seems like a good option to me

People who want it to be more like PoE 1 are unhappy with the game and would like it to be tweaked towards their preference

People who prefer it as it is will get upset if they change it

If they try and find a middleground with the balancing, I think both sides will still feel like it's not enough

So yeah, seems like maybe they either have to "pick their crowd" for PoE 2 or make 2 modes

If no PoE 1 mode, I hope we get an announcement for huge graphical overhaul of PoE 1 soon

If it's in GGG's plans already, I think it would be a good idea to announce it soon

Seems like there's a crowd that wants the Ruthless/souls-like mode (call it whatever you want)

And ...

The people who just wanted more PoE

Would it be possible to do a new mode that is tweaked to be more like PoE 1?
Or is the new game to different at a foundational level to even bother?
Would it be to big a task to maintain 2 modes?

Dumb idea? (maybe)

If you want more POE , play POE 1 its not gone anywhere - this is different and an evolution. It is challenging and FUN.

The problem with this is that there have been like 400k-500k concurrent players on steam playing and enjoying PoE 2 since EA, and like usual, there's a minority of angry players on reddit and these forums complaining really loudly about it. I don't think saying, "The game doesn't have broad appeal with its current difficulty!" is actually convincing from a numbers perspective.

For what? 5 days?
Will PoE 2 be able to maintain large numbers in the long run?
We know PoE 1 was able to
Consistent/growing numbers for a decade
We will see

I wouldn't even be surprised if the game ends up much closer to PoE 1 not too long into the future, once many of the new players gets bored of the game and moves onto the next shiny thing

I know you think that because you've been posting it on like every other thread lol. It is true that time will tell, but keep in mind that PoE 1 itself was a more "difficult" competitor to other ARPGs in the market at the time, and it built its community up from scratch. I don't see why people keep insisting that PoE 2 can't do the same now as a slower, more difficult complement to its older sister.

There's nothing that says you "need" PoE 1's blueprints to be a long-lived game. Everyone likes to talk about how this game is very souls-y to appeal to a bigger audience that will "leave," but souls games have very serious retention despite little-to-no regular updates 2 years post-release. Dark Souls 3 still has ~5k concurrent players on steam. It's clear a lot of people like this current level of engagement from A1. Most players I know IRL just complain about map sizes with no teleports and lack of landmarks / unique events on large maps.

Similar topic in another thread, where I had a similar thing to say?
Who would have thought ^^

No point in all this guess work, since yes, we can't know

We'll see
I am really, really tired of people crying about PoE 2 not being like PoE 1. Just go play PoE 1 ...

PoE 2 is a different game. This was communicated for years! It is not supposed to be like PoE 1! If you did not listen, that's on you.

It was literally supposed to be the same game

(I also posted this in another topic btw, twice I think even. Because people seem to not know this)
