[POE2] Long loading screen
being so used to basically instant loading screen in POE1 for 10 years, and the game just boot straight into login screen...
now in POE2 it took anything from 2 to 5 minutes to just load the login screen (still, the background never appear), then another few minutes to load into the game map... it's rough sometime. Sometime it's a lot faster, sometime it's slow as heck. RNG is RNG... hopefully this issue got improved. As of now the game's memory utilization is simply too low. Are they optimizing the game for 2GB GPU or what... The game don't uses more than 3.5GB VRAM, right now I looking at the stat it even says just utilize 2.5GB - the constant asset unloading is completely unnecessary tbh. Open map, short loading, exit map, another short load for the map to appear again.. why? This is very very unnecessary. Please use all the memory! Also have 2+minute load times, then loading in areas where I can move and interact with things in town while the graphics are still just 2 loading gears. My hardware

Same problem here! 2-4 minute load times for each new area, every time I play. Tried another laptop and no issues with it.

Same Problem 5 minutes to get into game and then the FPS is terrible since patch

For me it was caused by using a PCIe 3.0 motherboard. I upgraded to a motherboard with PCIe 4.0 and CPU to Ryzen 5600X which is PCIe 4.0 capable now all loads in seconds.
You can check using GPU-Z. The Bus Interface section should be something like 'PCIe x8 4.0 @ x8 4.0' instead of 'PCIe x8 4.0 @ x8 3.0'. Previous system was MSI B360 Gaming Pro Carbon with an i5-9400f. Just moved the NVMe, RAM, GPU over and fired it up. Last edited by Semillon#6624 on Jan 18, 2025, 6:53:07 AM

They really don't give two shats about this situation, eh?

It's almost pathetic how so many users in the open beta are reporting issues with loading times, yet nothing is being done about it.
If the game is opened to the wider community in this state, the number of complaints will be massive. For now, though, they seem to be choosing to ignore the problem. Many players have already stopped playing because it's practically unplayable. Trading is very hard, and people leave parties while I'm still stuck in the loading screen, no one wants to wait around. At this point, after numerous attempts to adjust the settings, my game has completely crashed and won't even launch anymore. A full settings reset seems necessary - what a letdown. | |
Guys, if you are seeing the loading screen with embers for long periods in game, you can try deleting your PoE 2 Config file. Especially try this if you recently changed any hardware you play the game on (SSD, motherboard, CPU, etc).
I did this and it solved 95% of my load time issues. I think what might be happening is the config file is keeping data about hardware from an old part, so the game will "look" for that hardware for long periods of time before it decides to use the current/default settings. The default location for the Config file in Windows 10 is: C:\Users\%WINDOWSUSERNAME\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini Just delete that file entirely and restart your game. If you did it right, you'll see the cinematic cutscene it shows to new players for the 1st time. You will lose all your game settings of course, so those need to be reset manually. I'm not sure of the root cause, but this was the fix for me. |

I've solved this issue, not the solution everyone is looking for though.
I had the same problems, extremely long loading times, problems with opening the map taking forever, not even wanting to go back to town to vendor stuff because it took so long. Even had some weirdness involving seeing myself move on the minimap while still having a black screen and not being loaded in for a bit until textures were done loading. I noticed that my processor was sitting at 100% a lot of the time for loading. I had a 4670 with 16GB RAM and a RTX2070. I was getting bad FPS as well, roughly 25-35 at most times. I bought a new processor, 12700k, alongside upgrading to 32GB of DDR5 RAM. Now with the new processor, everything is fixed. Short loading times, no weirdness anymore, and I sit at 100FPS now while still using the same RTX2070 as before. So possibly POE2 leans heavily on processor for some reason, or there's an underlying reason I don't understand. Either way, upgrading my processor fixed everything and the game went from borderline unplayable to completely enjoyable. Also just wanted to note that in both cases, game was installed on an NVME drive installed in the PCIe slot. So that wasn't my issue. Last edited by Spinky#7610 on Jan 25, 2025, 11:49:49 PM
