New to ARPG. People say this PoE 2 is hard.

"

you played for a week. i played for 6000 hours. and my complaint is not that the game became "difficult", but that the game became simple and stupid. they removed 95% of the crafting and character development mechanics, which were the essence of the game. the difficulty of the game was in having an encyclopedic amount of knowledge about it, and not in the need to press the spacebar in time. if anything, pressing the spacebar is not difficult in reality.

My point is, people have been saying PoE isn't a game for new players. I'm new to ARPGs generally and I say PoE 2 is not a difficult game. What I know about PoE 1 was how hard it was to respec passive abilities. But it seems we're able to respec by interacting with "The Hooded One" NPC in exchange for gold. I find the change in system very convenient.

I played about the same and i can say you are just wrong. Being convoluted for the sake of it was the biggest poe1 flaw. Im glad they cut that crap down to bare minimum. Boated mechanics do not make game hard, they make it annoying to keep track of everything.

i for one don't like the Orb of Regret removal. when it was the orb i didn't feel the cost, now gold can be used to buy some juicy gear, spending it on respecs is going to feel really bad

you don't get it. i played 6000 hours in an ARPG called Path of Exile. after all this time you come here and write to me and others like me that ARPG is a bad genre, and Souls Like is good. so we should accept that POE has become Souls Like. don't you think that's at least impolite?

And it wasn't about paid respec, although that was also part of the previous game. I don't know why you brought that up. Open Craft of Exile, maybe you'll find out what I'm writing about.

The problem is that people played an ARPG called Path of Exile for 10 years and were waiting for a sequel in the same genre, but the developers released Dark Souls RPG

I've played PoE 1 for at the very least a week. Witch was much more tedious but the combat is almost the same; slow and enemies hit hard. Maybe endgame you all could 1 shot bosses? There are lots of Asian games like First Descendant where you're able to use one single skill to clear entire mobs while afking. Why not play that instead?

To me, I like a challenge and challenges are fun to me. It's really a pity how soft the gaming community has become.

and besides that you advise us to go play something else. that's the cherry on the cake. Welcome to the Path of Exile community

And I don't even like ARPGs.

Playing a game you don't even like, why? Just to be an elitist or what?

I think its confusing how someone with 6000 hours in the first game is having a hard time on a sequel which in my experience had few changes regarding the combat. Like I said before, the combat is slower and much more punishing than Diablo.

If I had 6000 hours in a game like PoE 1 I would be used to the mechanics of the game and be ready for its sequel which reviewers have been saying its going to be much more difficult.

A game that is challenging is not a bad game. It means the game requires you to put effort. And from what I've seen, it seems a good handful of players prefer to just 1 shot everything including bosses. How is that fun? Do you really not like a challenge in video games?

And I think its impolite to go against the developers ideology of making their very well made sequel challenging compared to other ARPGs.

By the way, the PoE community isn't the first community to complain about game mechanics. The same can be said with other games like Helldivers 2. It would be a total waste to have this gritty game turn into Diablo. I've said the same in Helldivers 2, big enemies should feel and hit hard but apparently people wanted to 1 shot everything.

What makes you think that this is so? Have I ever mentioned that I have a hard time playing POE2?

Either you are a troll or you don't understand what I'm writing.

ARPGS usuallly attract neckbeards with zero to none reflexes that have no life and are able to grind 24/7. In PoE 2 it seems you actually have to have skill instead of relying on braindead steamrolling with grinded items. This seperates the chaff from the wheat and I find that tremendously amusing.

You do understand how people get to those builds, right? They don't start out like that, they have to grind for them... without the benefit of being able to steamroll... which requires them to *checks notes* have reflexes.
MOAR PANTS, because every good game needs a pointless meme.
