Multiplayer Loot - Common or seperate?

I searched "multiplayer loot" to rant about how the loot system works, but after reading some posts I was convinced that the current system does indeed add personality to the game, and actually enforces friendly multiplayer, as you are encouraged to party with trusty friends.

The kind of trust this system builds is much more honest and valuable than what other systems provide.

But I just got curious about the Manifesto the developers have published, but that I couldn't find anywhere. The link someone posted seems broken...

Not a fan of FFA loot either. It was interesting in D2, but this form of item distribution totally kills the fun of gathering a random party and start to play since Path of Exile is not that friendly either with giving you items which you need for being able to continue in higher difficulties.

I am also sure that we WOULD SEE MUCH MORE parties on the party board if the timer would get more seconds for a even fairer distribution of the items.

I agree with this point. I appreciated Diablo 3's instanced loot. In this game, there are far too many people who will just ninja everything and not even bother to discuss giving or trading an item that may be good for you, because you are just a random party member.

I would be all for the FFA loot if this game only had melee classes, because that way, everyone stays in fair range. It is far too easy for a witch with minions to just stand around and pick up the loot in the middle of the fray, because they don't have to worry about swinging their weapon. On the other hand, a witch busy casting spells from a distance simply won't be able to run up in time to loot something a marauder has their eyes on.
Just finished my first ever multiplayer game.

First off, the loot system is NOT intuitive at all. There is no easy to find FAQ to explain it, only a google search which lead me to this thread. Secondly, being a ranged class I had little to no time to even pick up my loot. Finishing Act 1 in a party, every drop with my name on it was picked up by a melee before I was able to close even half the distance to the pile.

The current system reminds me of the crap that was D2 public games. It is going to make drop hacks a necessity before long, of that I am sure. It gives you no reason to play multiplayer as a ranged class unless you are stuck on a boss, because most loot will be snagged by melee since the timer is way too short. Toss on the problem of insane instance reset timers, which makes multiplayer an absolute necessity; you get sadomasochism at it's finest.

Sorry GGG

Dealbreaker.
its great as it is.

only thing i would consider is, making longer timers like 1-2 secs more on looting.

no, i havent played d2.

Im playing with friends or solo, and when i public grind exp i dont care about the drops.
