Multiplayer Loot - Common or seperate?
Reading another thread, People were talking about a point system for loot in a party. Does PoE not have seperated loot for multiplayer? If not, are there plans to put this in? Obviously D3 does, and it works well. Torchlight 2 is doing it. It seems like the best idea for games like this.
Hopefully it's in the plans. |

No.
Read some of the manifesto regarding loot ownership. Developers state their position on the matter quite clearly, and there is quite a lot of argument within the community. TehHammer is not a crime!

I think you should be able to shift+click an item that's temporarily reserved for you to lock it and prevent other people from looting it. Would be good for those moments when something good drops in the middle of a hard battle so your pals can stop thinking about how to get over to it before you do and get back to fighting.

I think the timer is a bit unforgiving. If you're in a public party with limited communication, fast progression is common. I sometimes spend more time analyzing the ground to make sure I'm not missing any of my drops.

Dude dont know if u have played d2 or d1 but its frigging balanced as how it is now, its not dps based its just randomly dropped around split with the players on your party. Dont know if u played before they implemented the timer it, it wasnt full of leechers but i mean in d2 in almost every party u saw ppl walking around waiting the boss to die and get the loot with telekinesis and that man, that sucked a lot. There were pick up hacks but its absolutely another theme :) hope there isnt hacks here

I havent played in a group yet. I just read about the timer. I guess I`ll have to play in a group and see how it is. But that seems kinda sketch for hardcore players. Depends how long the timer is. but if you only have a few seconds to get your loot, running into a group of mobs to grab your loot, as a hardcore player, is horrible.
But I shall see how it is. Btw, how do you know if its your loot or not |

I hadn't though about this issue till now.
Well, so much for multi player. This was the worst part of Diablo 2 co-op ( which I pretty much refused to acknowledge out side of Baal bot runs for the purpose of power lvling) In a game all about " what are the mobs going to drop for me", the last thing I want is to have to loot stuff before the other guy or miss out. For me the option will be there, if and when I make friends, but public games....no freeking way. |

See, I think this timer system supports people not fighting, cause they will wanna run and get their loot right away.
I suggested this in the developer discussion about it. Ill put it here as well. if each player had a combat timer of say... 5 seconds, and every time you attack, whether it be just an auto attack or skill, that timer resets. Once that timer drops to zero, THEN you have your 2-5 seconds before your allocation timer ends. That way, it keeps you in the fight, and makes you want to fight the entire fight before running over to the loot because you know your loot is safe as long as you're fighting. |

I'm for separate loot as well.
Works excellent! (Hellgate has it too btw) No fighting, no bitching like little kids, instead everyone can actually focus on the fight and not fight over loot! So far I solo 99% of the time because the 3 teams I was in I never got any of "my" Orbs. Already had to put 1 guy on Ignore and will quit any team that he's going to join. I'm a team player usually (doing MMORPGs for almost 10 years now) and separate loot, a Need or Greed/Points system or different (team leader controlled) Loot Modes are there for a reason! Because they work. Could someone add a link here please to the other thread where it's being discussed? Looks like we need a poll to prevent a disaster if it's going live like it is atm. If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! MWHAHAHAH

" The timer is so short I didn't even know it existed. If you're serious that it's already implemented then it's utterly useless at its current length. It needs to be 15-20 seconds, minimum. I have to finish fighting whatever I'm fighting and then run all the way across the screen. Whatever length it currently is it's basically the same as not having a timer at all to ranged characters. In its current state I can't play with melees because they take ALL the good loot. I'm fine with soloing in beta, but not being able to play multiplayer at launch is a deal breaker for me.
