POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Not sure if this will help but it crashes very often and if it is a map it will reveal the entire map once it is re-entered.
This continues to happen even if we limit the cores. It seems like some sort of infinite loop or leak. On top of that most of us get the same FPS regardless of what generation of GPU we are using, 980 vs 3080 nvidia cards have the exact same fps side by side in the same area, tops 45-55fps lows 8-15fps usually 10fps with action depending on the type of action. Eagerly awaiting for fixes.

Just an update on my post, I came home this afternoon after work and my gpu is completely dead, no signal output on any of the display ports or hdmi port

GPUs don't fry so easily because of you turning your PC off while it's on. This GPU was probably already about to die. CPU is more possible but still very very low chance. Most possible thing to happen is for your data to get corrupt. I don't know why misinformed people are still scaring other people in this thread.

I have not seen this suggestion in my hours of trying to find a solution.

In Windows go to your Display settings > Graphic Settings and expand the "Advanced Graphic Settings" and disable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

I tried that. I thought it was fixed at first but then I crashed two hours later. Before that i crashed almost every time i zone. No fix.
LMFAO you guys JUST released a patch to diagnose this? we are going to get a fix on 2027, I was like "maybe they finally fixed it", nah. At this point I am done with the season, just like another 430k people man...

Once again lack of ECE knowledge causes confident spread of misinformation.

Each time an incomplete shutdown happens, due to how electricity works, there is around 5% to 15% chance of "bricking" and a certainty of shortened component lifespan.

Any knowledgeable person in the industry would know about this fact. You can go and ask an ECE professor in an university nearby, ask ChatGPT, read the books yourself, find an experienced PC repairman etc...

I have written about this time and time again. And we have multiple confirmed cases on here, on reddit, and on Steam.

It would have been nice of GGG to inform its paying customers about this danger to their computers...

In addition to this,

We-as paying customers- have the right to know:

1) What went wrong?

2) What GGG is doing to fix it?

3) What possible causes has GGG eliminated as the source of the problem?

4) What triggers has GGG discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds)

5) What is GGG's estimated time of fix?

6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in PoE2's testing period?

7) What will GGG be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue?

8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing Path of Exile 2 due to this crashing issue?

As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.

I caved and switched to dual-booting Ubuntu and 11. Haven't had a problem with freezing/crashing on the same system since.

I'm not gonna wait for MS or GGG to figure it out at this point.

No, I'm not saying this is a "fix", just pointing out I'm no longer crashing on Linux with the same hardware.

Modern hardware is literally designed to handle unexpected shutdowns... CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, etc., all have safeguards like voltage regulators and capacitors to protect them from stuff like this.

Now... You mentioned asking an ECE professor or whatever. I’ve looked into this myself through google, chatgpt and personal experience, and everything points to the same conclusion: sudden shutdowns don’t brick your PC unless something’s already seriously wrong with the hardware (like bad thermals or a faulty PSU). And even then, it’s rare.

Also, just think about it... there are tons of people dealing with freezes and sudden shutdowns and yet very few actually report PC bricking. If 5–15% of PCs were getting bricked, it would be way more common and definitely all over the forums. Based on statistics alone your claims don't hold up.

The bootlickers are out in full force here and on X. Done discussing it. The game doesn’t work. Everyone arguing to the contrary; congrats it’s not happening for you! But on behalf of the rest of us fellow gamers that paid for this game and cannot play it, I humbly offer you a GFY for gaslighting other people trying to find a solution. Goodbye to this game, the pathetic devs, and the pathetic “community” it has generated. A worse group of gamers I have not met. Good luck to the rest of you dealing with this 100% pure corporate BS.

It is all over the forums, tons of youtube videos, streamers all have talked about it, peoples computers are shorting out and overheating. Killing a cpu/gpu with a ongoing max process load is not good. My brand new 4080s is showing signs of decay because of the freezing. Half the time my computer boots my gpu doesn't detect it after all the freezes. Now they want me to enable a in game command for them to diagnose the dx12 crashing, essentially asking us to risk our computers more so they can fix the issue with trial and error, the stake being your computer getting fried for them being lazy.
the crashes are more severe now after this patch , like wtf
