Speaking of waiting for the fix... its day 36 of crashes... where is the fix GGG? So went don't need to listen to these little "I took computing in college i'll have you know" andy anymore. Jfc

Just a heads up - until they fix it, the only thing that can save you from a hard restart is setting the affinity and removing a few cores. Just don't set the priority - some sites recommend setting priority to realtime and that will just make you unable to tab out and kill process.

" Core affinity stops the game from crashing my whole computer, but I still get extremely frequent game lockups. I actually combined both of these: remove two logical cores (aka one full core due to hyperthreading) and I set priority to realtime. Even if the game fully latches onto the rest of my CPU and refuses to let go, I can still kill the process with the one free pair of logical processors. To be honest though, I haven't gotten crashes with the Realtime priority. I'm definitely not undoing the "spare a pair of cores" fix as a fallback though. |

" I've done all this, with the realtime priority and have still gotten the lockups unfortunately. While not being able alt tab out. |

Does anyone know what would cause this problem? I only get this error, and monster file not found, when loading a map with a bunch of modifiers especially with a juiced stone.

- updated report.
Since the last 0.1.0f Hotfix 1 game client has started to crash MUCH more freequently. Lucking still using PoEUncrasher full pc does not crash, but the changes to the cpu affinity made in the last 0.1.0f Hotfix 1 has made crash on load worse for me. " Microsoft or anyone else who has access to ring 0 (or -2). It may be even (J)Micron, Realtek, AMI, not only ATI / NVIDIA. The faulty user-mode code should never ever cause the total system freeze. It is one of the main ideas of your OS. it is designed in mind to protect the rest working programs, data and hardware from faulty application. And it failed in many layers. The problem is that too many asses have access to the ring 0, and it's VERY easy to break the system at this level. I'm using Arch and Nobara for the most games, rarely Windows 10, because FPS is my priority. But many drivers have shared platform-independent code to provide consistency and simplicity for the developers that want to support the product on wide spectrum of platforms. Hm... I think the good analogy is when the person starts to maraphon 3 km on the stadium, after 500 meters suddenly he gets heart attack. Whose fault is it? The stadium, the track, its surface, the air, the sun, the sounds of the people around? No. A hidden serious disease, which he had not known about before, revealed itself at a time of stress, when a healthy organism tolerates it normally, but a sick person risks losing his life. It's not very accurate because all analogies lack of it but the idea stays the same. Last edited by cursorTarget#1174 on Jan 11, 2025, 4:12:47 AM

" Because they have to fix their code not letting the kernel mode service to crash the system because user mode program failed. You guys don't understand the simple things. PoE doesn't have direct access to your hardware. With such design flaw it means for the hacker / scammer that he can infect your system with new generation of Windows / Linux locker without having elevated privileges or root access. Just show him the message "PAY ME 1000$ IF YOU WANT TO UNLOCK YOUR PC" and then limited user mode program without admin rights can hang the system up by processing the (faulty?) shaders on all your cores. So easy abusable way. Don't you think you've got a serious security problem? |
