POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
" yeah thats what i fought...there is now way nvidia driver can fix this issue |
|
Just want to report the same issue on my end. While running through the campaign i had only loading screen freezes on the initial login. After getting through the initial login once, i could play for hours. Now that i want to map, getting into and out of maps is an issue and my system freezes while porting to Ziggurat Refugue. I could not even watch a stream while playing otherwise my system would freeze playing poe2. This is not happening in other games. Knowing that the current windows update could lead to errors https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2#3448msgdesc
Things i tried without success: - disable multithreading (fps below 25 basically unplayable) - disable NVIDIA Reflex | result: complete freeze - setting cpu affinity, disabling core 0,1 | Game crashing in every load screen - windows game mode on/off | result: complete freeze - rolling back nvidia drivers | result: complete freeze - switching graphic settings to low and vice versa | result: complete freeze - Windows application settings | result: complete freeze - several other hints from this post/replies Setup is a bit older but runs everything else without issues: Windows 11, version 24H2 i7 9700k RTX 2080 48gb Ram TLDR: Tried everything from this thread. Crashing more while mapping. Hope this helps the devs. |

" If you know the issue is very likely to be caused by 24H2 why don't you just do a clean install of a previous version? |

I have been experiencing freezes and total system hang on loading screens.
I disabled engine multithreading and the issues stop. I'm not going to toggle this option every time I have to hit a load screen so I'm playing with engine multithreading disabled for now. I'm running Windows 11 and keep my PC updated to the most recent version. System Specs Alienware Area 51m RTX 2060 6 GB GDDR6 9th Generation Intel i7-9700K @ 3.60 GHz 32 GB 2666MHz DDR4 RAM |

" You are right, this may be worth a shot, but i am not downgrading my os to play a single early access game. This could lead to security issues https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/windows-itpro-blog/windows-11-version-24h2-what%e2%80%99s-new-for-it-pros/4259108 I am hoping that my share could lead to some solution through transparency. Thank you again for your advice. |

I WISH it was limited to 24h2. That would simplify it so much, just go to 23h2 and problem solved.
Sadly it's not that simple, the freezes happen on 24h2, 23h2, windows 10, Linux. Brand of CPU doesn't matter, brand of GPU doesn't matter, the freezes don't discriminate. But it's not happening to everyone, just a sizeable chunk of players. No clue what the exact factors affecting it are, but it's sure making it unenjoyable to play right now. |

Real shame this hasn’t been acknowledged or fixed. I’ve left a negative steam review after trying to get 4 refunds that were denied. Worst launch of any video game I’ve ever seen and biggest waste of money. Saddest part is is the game is actually good and when it fixed I will submit my soul to the grind.
I’m trying to find the logic behind the lack of communication: 1) they truly don’t know what’s causing the crash and don’t want to speak on it until the bug is identified and the data has been analyzed. 2) they know what’s causing the crash and it is a complex issue in the code and is taking longer than expected to fix or they simply dont know how to fix it 3) they know what’s causing the crash but it requires support from other companies (Microsoft, Intel, AMD, nvidia) 4) they know what’s causing the crash but are worried by acknowledging it publicly will be off putting for potential buyers, especially during the holiday season Regardless of the situation, it is disgusting that they can’t even say something like “Hey guys. We’re aware of the crashing issue requiring a full pc reset and will keep you posted on our progress here” - just anything would be better than nothing. I’ve said it in prior posts that this is behavior I’d expect from an Activision, Bungie, Ubisoft, or like blizzard. But honestly while those companies are greedy and their games are littered with MTX, at least they promptly fix or acknowledge when something is game breaking. The whole situation has rubbed me in such a poor way that despite the game being good I just don’t even wanna support it. Really kinda just wanna get my $30 worth and move on Last edited by chrisEm119#1403 on Dec 27, 2024, 12:07:55 PM

" Because it's not a surefire solution. I did a rollback to 23h2, still freezing. I did a clean install of 23h2, because my pc is brand new, still freezing. I did everything this thread and the other one has been throwing except from going to win10, and it's still freezing. Just 2 posts above you there's a guy on win10 and an AMD graphic card. There's at least 2 people linux, one beign a Nobara distro. There's something wrong with the game, pure and simple. Been playing this two weeks without problem to RDR2, cyberpunk, indiana jones all at ultra, no crashes or freezes. Plenty of people with my experience too. |

The game has been playable for about a week or two now. Are you guys not using PoE Uncrasher? It literally works flawlessly for this kind of issue.

" I started using this the other night and got 2 hours out of it without crashing. But I still have such a sour taste in my mouth that I hardly even enjoyed myself |
