POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Yesterday i fresh installed windows 10 and i boticed that the nvidia app was correctly detecting "path of exile 2" on a fresh install with nore optimization options, rather than "path of exile". I had previously uninstalled the old game. My game is running so much smoother, no crashes. I think there is an issue with the driver detecting the wrong game causing a fatal shader compiler error. Check your nvidia app. If its true thats its not just 2h42, then this could be a possibility.
Now that nvidia is detecting the right game. Im having no issues and exponentially better performace.
Just trying to help.
Why would nvidia detect the wrong game.
Am i correct in assuming that it could cause issues?

Could you elaborate more? What all did you do with the nivida app to solve the problem? I've heard from elsewhere that the nvidia app is the problem but no solution.
Ok well, I’m typing this on my phone because my pc is currently being restored to factory settings.

This is because after yet again another poe2 system crash, windows would not fully start.
It would partially start then do nothing and it would not even let me ctrl alt del and go to task manager

Wouldn’t let me restart the pc without holding the power button to hard shut it off (once again)

This time I didn’t even need to start poe2 for this to happen

My pc is not bricked as far as I know, but windows was!

I’m sure the hard resets that I did over and over again corrupted my windows files, as expected to be honest

I do not think it’s possible to damage your hardware from hard power off, but it is understood that software can be

And that’s what happened to me.

I’ve been using lasso lately, but since standalone wouldn’t even start for me without crashing, I decided to try steam, but I forgot that I didn’t set lasso to disable the first 2 cores on steam version. And then pc crashed. Lately only Poe 2 would crash because I been using lasso lately. But I forgot to configure lasso for steam version and pc crashed. And this crash was the one before my windows got fucked

Be careful, back up your important files on windows, put them in a cloud or something.
Or at least use lasso or task manager to disable the first 2 cores for poe2 so you can close poe2 when it crashes before your pc crashes

Because your windows might have a problem like me and you have to reset your pc

To fix the nvidia app try the solution in this reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExile2/comments/1h8dgii/nvidia_unable_to_retrieve_current_values/. Should be a caching problem. I went back to nvidia 566.14 but just the thought of starting PoE2 gives me already anxiety...

without a fresh install OS install the most prudent thing to do would be to first open the nvidia app and check your games list, if you dont see path of exile 2, and you only see "path of exile" that we can keep going.
Uninstall POE2 and POE 1
DELETE ALL FILES RELATING TO POE 1 AND POE 2 from %appdata%
win + r %appdata% - delete everything path of exile related.
Remove shader filies.
reinstall path of exile 2.
reinstall driver in nvidia app.
check to see "path of exile 2" in games list inside nvidia app.
enjoy.

i fresh installed windows 10 because i was at my wits end but i discovered this by accident afterwords.

this should be how to do it without formatting your pc.

How does AMD crash with nvidia drivers?

The crash happens on AMD too.

following worked (for me) and game stopped freezing completly, nothing else worked (tried everything with cpu/fps lock, nothing worked) :

make a exception in the Windows defender for follwing folder: "C:///User/User/appdata/roaming/Path of exile 2" --> restart computer one time --> no freezes and much smoother loading without any lag -->

windows defender was checking the shader cache everytime while it was created during the loading

This is the way!! Game is way smoother.

Posted this in the other thread as well, but would be curious if it works for people:

For those who are having the issue where your PC hard freezes during loading screens, either this tool or the manual workaround (setting the process affinity of PoE) might help: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/

Is this a permanent fix or do we have to run the script every launch? If it's permanent, how do we reverse the script's changes?

It doesn't modify the PoE executable itself, all it does is change how Windows allocates CPU resources to it. You have to have the process running while PoE is running. It'll undo its changes after every loading screen, and nothing it does persists after PoE closes.

Thank you for the script, it has been working really well on my end!

One issue I still have sometimes, sadly, is that the game will also freeze as soon as I launch it on the initial loading screen before reaching the main menu, can the script be modified to also apply on that instance?

У меня не сработало, POE2 в приложении NVIDIA так и не появилось
