POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Disabling SMT in the bios has fixed all kinds of hiccups and freezes while playing games in 24H2.

This is the only game that hard locks my PC tbf, but I got little freezes with 24H2 than I never got with 23. However, my CPU generally performed worse on 23 in games, even with SMT disabled so I'm not even sure if downgrading Windows is worth my time.

Hopefully this isn't a placebo fix, since I've played a whole act with SMT disabled and not had a single crash (and left multithreading enabled in the game options the whole time).

The other option is to record a macro of yourself toggling engine multi threading, then trigger the macro before and after using a doorway to a new zone. (I press a button on my mouse and the macro runs in less than a second)

We shouldn't really have to do either of these things, but if anyone is determined to play the game despite the issues, it might help.

Posted this in the other thread as well, but would be curious if it works for people:

For those who are having the issue where your PC hard freezes during loading screens, either this tool or the manual workaround (setting the process affinity of PoE) might help: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/

I tried this script, but the freezes still occur. However, thanks to the disabled cores, it's possible to open Task Manager and close the client. The only solution that works 100% is turning off the multithreading setting before every load. Is it possible to modify this script so that it automatically turns the multithreading setting on and off when a load is detected?
I get the freezes to. Did they say allready something if they are aware of this Problem? I mean a Game that freezing whole Computers, this Problem is worth some attention.

It's on the Known issues listed as high priority, but other than that no word.
Still happening for me.
So, PoEUncrasher active, Win Game Mode off, Limiting FPS to 100 ingame seems to help. No crash so far.

Hi! Due to the fact that the topic is gaining momentum and many people can not play normally, I suggest to help understand the developers direction to solve the problem
By collecting statistics.
We have created a form where you can specify your PC configuration and attach a dxdiag file as requested by Timothy_GGG https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-posts/Timothy_GGG-0000.

I ask everyone to fill in the form, including people who don't have problems with PC freezing, so you will get structured statistics with problematic and working configurations. This should help to identify patterns of error occurrence, which in turn will speed up troubleshooting of the game.

(at least the information about configurations will not be scattered in the comments of the thread (170 pages omg)).

A dashboard with these statistics will be provided later.

Hey, guys.
We've gathered some stats with your responses on the form https://forms.yandex.com/cloud/676004d9e010db19370ab6c2/.
The link to the statistics is https://datalens.yandex.cloud/5rpsrgqcmw9ws-freezing-problems-stats.

I am still asking anyone who hasn't filled out the form to go through and fill it out, especially those who have encountered a problem.
Ok, just tested the PoEUncrasher and yes, it's solved, not a single crash after activating it, works like a charm!

Just in case of anyone needing the link: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/tree/master
The fact they have just ignored it mostly and dipped for the holidays is the worst part. It's going to be like a month to get fixed now and likely will be as dead as any other PoE league is at 5 weeks in... A real kick in the nuts for anyone that upgraded for poe2 lol...

Fix for Loading Screen Crashes/Freezes with X3D Processors in Path of Exile 2

What is This?
If you’re experiencing crashes or freezes during loading screens in Path of Exile 2 on systems with X3D processors, this mod provides a workaround. It dynamically adjusts CPU behavior to resolve issues caused by high disk activity during game loading.

Why This Fix Exists
The issue appears to stem from how AMD X3D processors handle multi-threading under specific conditions during game loading. This mod optimizes CPU usage dynamically to improve stability and reduce crashes.
It serves as a temporary solution until an official fix is released by the game developers.

Features
[] Monitors disk activity of Path of Exile 2. [] Adjusts CPU usage to physical cores during high disk activity. [] Restores full CPU usage when disk activity normalizes. [] Helps prevent crashes and freezing, especially on AMD X3D processors.

Where to Find the Tool
You can find this fix on NexusMods under Path of Exile 2:
Name: POE2 Crash or Freezing Fix - Loading Screens - X3D Processors

Simply search for it in the Path of Exile 2 section on NexusMods to download.

How to Use
Detailed usage instructions are available on the NexusMods page, but the process is straightforward:
[] Download and extract the mod files. [] Run the provided executable file.
  1. The tool works automatically once launched, targeting Path of Exile 2’s process.

For more details, refer to the description on NexusMods.
