POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
I wish it will help:
"If you experience stutters in PoE2 DO this: 1) Update latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your motherboard. (be very careful with BIOS update watch guides or use help of experienced tech guys) 2) Do NOT change NVIDIA control panel settings for PoE2. 3) Do NOT disable Full screen optimization in EXE files of the game. 4) CLOSE all your browsers and their processes in your system [in my case opened Chrome cause stutters every 2-3 seconds] 5) Turn OFF NVIDIA Reflex in game options tab. Info for devs - mostly problem located in working browsers IDK how this correlate with PoE2 performance but it is! My system: AMD 5600X / Nvidia RTX 3070 / 32GB DDR4 RAM / 2x NVME M2 / WINDOWS 10 Pro / Steam Client" |

" The issue isn't a stutter, it's the game freezing up and not allowing you to alt+F4 to close, open the task manager to close, or alt+tab to even switch to an already open task manager. The only way to gain control of your PC again after the issue occurs is to manually power off the entire PC. |
|
" It is because somehow it suddenly eats up all your CPU usage, it shoots up to 100% and the usage keeps going up until your whole pc stop responding. I just use vulkan, it helps to deal with it, sometime it will steal eat up like 90% usage of CPU, but PC will not freeze anymore. |

I had the same issue and tried swapping to DX11 for the time being and so far no further pc freezes, so seems to work as a temporary fix.

Same thing happens to me. I was wondering if it could be some CPU instability but as it seems to be happening to alot other people, i guess not. Im using ryzen 5800x3d and rtx 3080. Seems to be related to ryzen CPUs ?

You can reduce the amount of cores the game uses via the task manager. That way, whenever the game freezes, you will still be able to close the process in the task manager and you won't have to sit through a PC restart. Plus, the game will still be multithreaded and run at high fps.
You can automate this with a bat file. 1. Navigate to your POE directory. In steam, rightclick poe then manage -> browse local files. 2. Create a launch.bat file inside your poe directory and open it with notepad. 3. Paste this line into the file if you want the game to use 8 cores. %comspec% /C start /normal /affinity 5555 PathOfExileSteam.exe 3.a Or this if you want the game to run on 4 cores. %comspec% /C start /normal /affinity 55 PathOfExileSteam.exe 4. Save and close the .bat file. 5. Back in your steam library, right click poe and hit properties. 6. In the general tab, paste this into launch options. "<path to the to your poe folder>\launch.bat" %command% In my specific case "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2\launch.bat" %command% Now launch the game and verify that the game uses a reduced amount of cores. Worked for me, gl. Also credit to this guy https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3076663294 |

Wish they would atleast address this. PC hard locking can't be good for it's longevity.

" Thanks for the guide! I tweaked it a bit for my Ryzen 5 5600X and used "%comspec% /C start /normal /affinity FF PathOfExileSteam.exe" for the bat file instead so I could give it 8 threads. Hoping it stays stable. Appreciate the help! |

I am getting 3 types of crashes.
1 crash directly to desktop 2 crash with message in game missing textures, then I can exit to desktop 3 This crash freezes my pc can’t pull up task manager have to hard reset with button. This is the worse crash because you can damage your ssd. 9800x3d Rtx 4090 64gb ram Ssd It’s strange that the devs don’t want to acknowledge the issue. There hundreds of people on steam forum complaining about the same issue. |
