I have noticed most of you (and me) having this issue have NVIDIA GPU and Ryzen CPU. Also i use Steam version of the game, dunno about you.
I downloaded nvidiaProfileInspector and check profiles, i have latest driver 566.36. I have noticed that PoE2 steam exe name is same as PoE1 exe name so it uses PoE1 profile! And that profile for PoE1 have some curious settings, so i delete whole PoE1 profile and added poe2 steam executables to PoE2 profile and... it seems no crashes since then - i cant enter first town before, loading screen always freeze my PC.
The issue we have is related to Windows 24H2 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2#3448msgdesc
And unfortunately present in more games than POE ...

I am fairly sure you will see freeze soon enough. The issue we have is related to Windows 24H2 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2#3448msgdesc
Maybe, but loading new areas is more smooth now. I had similar problems in PoE1 last time and loading areas was like little hang always. Maybe this is just some setting in NVIDIA profile that causes problems with 24H2, dunno.

Oh so it's a Windows 24h2 issue? I'm also on W11 24h2... if it's a Windows issue then let's hope it gets fixed asap. i5-12400f, RTX 3050, 32GB RAM and I have these hard freezes when I load into zones wheter they're new or old doesnt matter. It doesn't happen every time, but what I noticed is that the loading screens cause these cpu usage spikes to 100% and that's when it freezes. Hopping into task manager and excluding cpu 0 and cpu 1 from affinity helps. When the game freezes it crashes and so it doesn't crash your whole entire PC.
Still a crash tho :/

Unfortunately I have tried few different NVIDIA drivers with DDU complete uninstall and issue was still there. This is CPU related when CPU load is 100% on the loading screen. If you have all your CPU cores allocated to POE, the PC freeze completely, if only some of them then just the game will go unresponsive and if you limit your CPU for POE 2, then the game does not crash.

My screen freezes, and the mouse moves very slowly, making it impossible to use Ctrl+Alt+Del. I have to restart the PC using the power button. I’ve tried disabling hyper-threading, lowering the processing load, updating the motherboard BIOS, reducing the clock speed of the CPU and RAM... but nothing has made a significant difference.
My system specs:
Windows 24H2
RTX 4060
Intel i5-13400K
32GB RAM
1TB SSD
I’ve restarted the PC a million times, and the issue is more frequent when playing multiplayer.

I find it curious GGG hasn't popped into here, or put this PC freezing issue in their sticky of Known Issues.
Hundreds of PC gamers are posting about this online.
It's a rather big deal.
Just saying..
Also, I'm running:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on 10/5/2022
OS build 22631.4460
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1047.0
^Copied right from my settings window
And I'm having the same exact freezes the 24H2 people are having. This is not limited to the 24H2 builds.
Windows 11 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD Last edited by Stormscourge#2254 on Dec 7, 2024, 5:01:58 PM

I think PoE1 profile is in drivers from looong time so maybe all drivers you have tried contain same profile.

I am afraid they might not have all the right people in work today (Sunday) to really deal with this issue. I think this will require entire team to hotfix.

Same here, hope the bubling replies in this thread cause a reply from GGG. This is a critical bug that needs to be addressed and community deserves to know the progress of this since game is not really playable...
