Happens for me too. Have had this happen to me A lot.
Win 11 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4080 Hope they patch this soon. I don't like my PC hard crashing it scares me. |

Same issue happening here. Happened the first time when I first ran the game and switched from DirectX12 to Vulkan. Held down power button. Second time on booting the game during the GGG intro, hard reset. Third time during a loading screen after using the waypoint in the first town to teleport into nearby zone.

It's a known issue with windows 11 24h2 that has been going on in PoE1 since that update came out. Unclear if it's a Windows bug that's at fault or if it's the thread scheduler changes Microsoft did to improve performance that has exposed a bug in the PoE engine. GGG has yet to acknowledge or comment on the issue.
Some Ubisoft games are also experiencing similar issues and MS has blocked the update for people that have them installed. Unfortunately only real fix for now that I know of is to reinstall windows 11 version 23h2 or disable multithreading in PoE but the game will run like ass then. What you can do to mitigate it somewhat is to go into task manager - details and set affinity for the poe process and uncheck a couple cores and hopefully it will let you close the game then and not hard lock the computer and require a reset. Hard lick up shanging zones now if i try to log inwith one of my toons it starts to log in then hard lockup and have to reset computer.

It worked for me switching to dx11, but framerate is not that good. At least no more PC freeze

" Really, there are a bunch of threads about it and every time someone downgraded to 23h2 it was reported it solved the issue. In my case I'm sure it started after I updated windows. It's possible it's a different issue in your case though. Could unfortunately be your CPU that is dying. You're aware there is a flaw with intel 13 and 14 series CPUs that's killing them? 13900 and 14900 models being the most affected.
