Hard crashing PC locks up
" You're so right guy, the full system-wide crash from the first game couldn't possibly be the same full system-wide crash from the sequel. I'm sure they'll totally have this wrapped up within the next 10 years. |

" .NET has literally nothing to the game. Stop spreading misinformation. |

To anyone who is confused about the Windows 11 24H2 crashes:
That particular error Ubisoft and other games faced was that Windows' "New Feature" was blocking the program's access to system resources, therefore crashing the program but never crashing the PC itself. The problem PoE2 has is that program is hogging all available system resources due improper usage of system APIs, therefore crashing the program AND the PC itself. (Technically it crashes the OS because OS can no longer get the resources it has to in order to function properly) |

I have the exact same problem as most of us here. Full freeze on loading screens when changing zones, forcing me to hard reset my PC via power button. I have tried almost every single „fix“ i have encountered on the web since launchday - nothing has worked for me.
I have tried: Changing all graphics settings ingame.. lowering, raising, enabeling, disabeling every option Dx11, Vulkan, Dx12 Capping FPS to 60, 120, 144 Increasing Shader Cache Size in Nvidia settings to 10GB and 100GB Messing with Vsync in Nvidia control panel BSD software (-2%, -3%, -5%…) Putting POE 2 on the Windows Defender Ignore List Update BIOS, Chipset driver, Audio Driver, Lan Driver, GPU Driver Rollback to older GPU driver Those strange Audio device and ingame Chat „fixes“ Clean Windows ReInstall to 23H2 Unplugging my secondary Monitor Reapplying Thermalpaste, setting aggressive fan curves Disabeling XMP This CPU affinity core 0 and 1 thing (sorry im a noob) Uninstalling unnecessary Software (logitech ghub, wallpaper engine, rgb fusion etc..) Undervolting CPU Kissing my PC, giving it compliments And surely a ton of other things i have already forgotten The ONLY thing working for me is disabling Multithreading, which gives me an absolutely terrible gaming experience at 30-40 fps… so thats not really a workaround either. It is not acceptable, that this problem is not adressed more forcefully. Acknowledging „there might be a problem for some people“ and now we‘re off for christmas holidays is beyond everything I would have ever expected from GGG. I love the game, but this shit is literally grinding my gears GGG. X570 gigabyte aorus elite Ryzen 5600X RTX 3080 32 gb compatible RAM 23H2 and now 24H2 again |

To anyone who is confused about .NET infinite loop and this game's "infinite loop":
"Fixes a problem where in rare cases an infinite loop could occur when a thread switches clR for the first time." The first time a thread switches to the CLR in an application would occur when a thread executes managed code for the first time. For a game this is when you launch it. This is not the case for PoE2. We do not know the part where the PoE2 starts its improper use of system APIs, nor do we know why it hogs all available resources. peepeepoo#1611 theorized how the loop in PoE2 happens, an explanation that seems plausible but we cannot know if it's true due to not having access to the game's code: "This is an issue with their async thread code resulting in memory violations. It causes an infinite loop trying to read an invalid pointer when loading new levels, which never completes so just eats performance. The reason why disabling some CPU cores works to not cause a complete crash is because processes do not all share the same threads on those cores. If i get enought PC hard lockups, will this damage the CPU overtime?

Is GGG already on Christmas vacation or are they still working till the end of the week ?
I have the best water cooled gaming pc money can buy and I am still crashing. My temps in game are low cpu at 55C in game, during loading spikes to 75C for a sec, gpu stays very cool at 50-55C. I play @4k Native 120fps smooth no fps drops, max settings. Crashing during loading screens and sometimes crash when I stay to long in inventory/stash tab. 9800x3d X870e Taichi Rtx 4090 64gb ddr5 ram Nvme SSD gen4 Windows 11 pro Last edited by Seba2007#3315 on Dec 17, 2024, 4:11:19 PM
