POE2 - Pre-Download?

The standalone client link JUST popped up for me.
OFC, it gave me absolutely ZERO option as to where I wanted it installed. Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment. |

Over 3500 spent and 12 years of playing Stand-Alone, And Steam is able to download while the stand-alone is not? What?

it looks like they caved and approved a steam preload. soon after the steam preload went up the stress off the servers started to alleviate and things started working again and now pc users can download the preload for the client of their choosing and be happy.
i was just going to say to hell with it and download the standalone just because they gave absolutely no indication or communication at all suggesting that there would even be a steam preload tonight. but for the last hour and a half i couldn't even do that because the servers got so swamped.
