Warning for people close to $480 in purchases

GGG just sees you as a cash cow brother. It would cost them nothing to send you a key after spending over $500 on their game. They're giving out keys to youtubers for free.

If they start giving keys to players, that's basically opening the floodgates of:

1) requests - there will be tens of thousands hitting support asking for free keys
2) complaints - there will be hundreds of threads on the forum if they don't get one, telling their story about why they're entitled

Good way to self destruct the whole vibe pre-launch

OP should just get his 20 refunded from support, then buy the 30 pack.

They could have just said you have to purchase the $30 supporter pack for early access. I imagine if anyone was going to spend that $30, it would be people already spending hundreds of dollars on POE1. I would argue all those free keys for people who would spend money anyhow probably cost them quite a bit.

Seems to me like they were trying to do something nice, but no matter what you do, gamers will find a way to complain.

I agree with OP that the miscommunication sucks, but saving $10 only means something if you never planned to spend another dime. $460 in purchases says that probably isn't true.

Not terribly happy about this, since early access is costing me $50 instead of $30 because of poor communication (did I miss where it says there's a cutoff? Most people thought you could hit the limit until EA started, or perhaps afterwards).

As we have also announced earlier, if you've purchased a top-tier supporter pack for $480 USD in the past or have spent $480 USD or more in lifetime purchases in Path of Exile on a single platform

While it isn't crystal clear, this, to me implies past tense "have spent".

Also, you can buy 100 points and ask support to merge them into EA pack. So it's not $50.

No, they are advertising their game via youtubers and you are just sore 'cause of regional pricing issue.

I'd be sore if I spent $500 supporting their game and the developer doesn't send me a key to beta test because of semantics.
I've spent $480 and am still waiting on a key, not sure if they've started going out yet.
Contact support and ask if you can pay the extra $10 to upgrade to the EA supporter pack.

Actually, what I heard Jonathan say on stream was that people who hit the $480 cap would be receiving free keys as of the content-reveal, but that processing them would take a few days so don't get concerned if you spent more than $480 and you have not received one.

To me, that sounded like they were processing it as of the spend on the content-reveal launch.... and then it was done.

But if people didn't watch the video, it could have been confusing I suppose.

Did not know there was a 20 dollar support pack, only lowest was 30 dollars, buying coins for 20 dollars is not support packs incase people make the misstake.

It is only support packs with mtx in them like 30 dollars and up, they say it in the faq coins or points do not count as support packs
On the purchase page (https://www.pathofexile.com/purchase) under 'Early Access Supporter Pack Notes' you can find the following:

"

Upgrades: You can upgrade from one of these Supporter Packs to another in the same series by clicking "Upgrade" on the desired pack. This will credit you with the difference between the pack you're upgrading to and the one you already own. The process will include any pure points packs purchased since Nov 20, 2024 9:00 PM (GMT+1). The maximum amount that upgrades can contribute is 80% of the value of a pack. Note that the Early Access and Settlers packs are in different series, so you can't upgrade from one of those to the other type. If you have any questions about this process, please contact support@grindinggear.com!

This means, if you bought a 20$ point pack and everything works as described, you should have the option to upgrade to the lowest supporter tier for 10$
