What do you guys think about loot filters?
On my part I dont like them, simply because I find the amount of different filters available very confusing. And it is a bit cumbersome to change filters all the time throughout leveling.
Explanation (skip if you know how filters work): For each style (melee/caster/ranged) there is superior filter classes, and then within classes, there is multiple subclasses or tiers. Tiers are typically designed so the same filter becomes more extreme the higher the tier, filtering out more and more items so eventually you only see the most valuable stuff. Obviously that does not address the core of the problem (too much loot), which I didn't want to adddress here; I wanted to talk merely about the abundance of filters available and the difficulty of choosing the right one. I always ended up taking one more or less randomly, based on the amount of follows on the website, but I feel it didn't work out properly for my build, for instance not showing the bases required for reforging, etc. I would prefer if the game had an ingame filter menu itself that can easily be adjusted. For PoE1, a custom loot filter is mandatory; the default filter just doesn't cut it, and running without a filter at all is just madness. I've taken to writing my own filter lately; I love NeverSink's work, but I prefer something a little less audiovisually distracting. If you're having trouble picking a filter, though, and don't feel up to writing your own, then Filterblade.xyz should be your first stop.
For PoE2, even NeverSink isn't planning to do much filtering simply because there isn't nearly enough data to inform a filter strictness level. Light touch seems to be the order of the day; I'll probably go without for a bit until I get a feel for how much loot drops, and what the general quality of that loot is. Good point. Yeah I never was motivated enough to spend time to writing a filter on my own. Instead I wanted to play the game as much as I could, as I had already missed the league start. But I think that many people don't go as deep as you do, and just pick whatever.

Did you know you can customise Filterblade's filter as well? It might be faster than writing your own, the UI is pretty good.

GGG addressed this in the past and they want to remove the quantity of loot dropped but increase the quality of it :) since tiers are mentioned next to the item base name I think those tiers could be considered in a loot filter later on. In endgame I don’t think you want to touch any item below tier 5.

I love loot filters. Both in PoE and other games like Last Epoch, project diablo2 etc.
I find filters to be the IDEAL future of loot management. Being able to set my own sounds, colors and cues is a MASSSSSSSIIIVEEEEEEEEEEEEE positive. I dont find them overwhelming at all with some very minor common sense. If you do, literally just use the simple neversink filter. I think they play a massive role to bridge the gap between the loot in the game catering to day 1 players who need/want to pick up even just simple white items to vendor for wisdom scrolls and players on day 30 who only care to see certain things while farming super advanced erdgame fast where even reduced loot drops would easily clutter any screen. i saw lootfilter option in PoE 2 settings so there must be?

Definitely helpful, but sometimes stuff that is valuable drops and you don't see it.
I get paranoid that I might miss stuff, so I recently stopped using a filter. Windows 11 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

" Definitely supported, yes. Jonathan confirmed in one of this week's interviews (maybe Talkative Tri's). The artist formerly known as Waitubold. Taking the Lord's name in vain since birth, basically.

For better or worse I still make my own loot filters (I was never happy with Neversink's departure from the in-game color scheme and insistence to differentiate between every single item detail with endless variants in drop icons/colors/sounds). I think having generic customizable filter like GD or LE seems like a good option although keeping the more custom version in addition would be nice.
