Single player game = Early Access

As I stated above due to no mention about any ranking / ladder during the reveal as well as its absence from the PoE2 website and with two weeks before the release, when the support packs/keys are already available in the store.

I'm sure GGG would like to advertise/showcase everything or as many features of what the early access game will offer. They presented their product and I made the choice not to purchase a supporter pack/key based on assumption.

BEcause at least on the very first weeks where things tend to be more unstable, it makes no sense to have a rank. Such a thing can only make sense after a few weeks and any potential server issues are fixed.
Okay cool don't let the door hit you on the way out. EA can't come fast enough for me.
Racing and ladders is the only thing you think makes it multiplayer? Trading, co-op and everything people who aren't sweats actually care about is in and those are ostensibly not singleplayer features
Gods why are you still here? this thread is posted by you every 2 month with a little pickup on speed since poe2 is on the horizon. And still nobody cares.

@Frubeling

Trading is unnecessary to progress through the game or experience it (the theme park) fully. The only thing co-op and trading does (or helps with) is to get some MTX that comes along with the achievements/challenges in "softcore" mode.

Now, how many will notice or care about whatever MTX you're using, especially when the majority will have it as they sink more of their time through the months, and if its for personal satisfaction to "achieve" it, well I already know I would be able to.

PoE game formula does not offer a great social experience and I won't go into details why or how that can be improved here, and without offering competitive experience as well, well you have this... A single player ARPG with online tag.

POE is not an MMORPG.. it will not be centered in a social experience. For that, go play EVE online where 99% of the game is talking to other people and convinec them to align to your cause.
So you need a ladder for the game to be considered "online"? What? What about trading and coop? I have almost 2k hours and I don't think I've ever checked the ladder. I don't give a damn if someone does something faster than me, reaches max lvl, kills a boss or whatever.

PoE is not a MMO. This is mainly single-player game with social aspects and coop option. This isn't type of game where you go full big party of people to kill a raid boss. That deosn't mean the game isn't online.

Most players don't even care about social interactions outside of trading.
such a long post i didnt read.

but usually people with long posts are just wrong.

Kopogero has a long and storied history of posting roughly weekly about how Path of Exile should be a hypercompetitive esport. One of his primary complaints in other Kopogero threads is that "nobody knows who the best players in Path of Exile are", and this is somehow a deep travesty and tragedy. We are all, as a playerbase, supposed to worship the people who consistently win PoE races as gods among lesser, inconsequential men and treat them as the highest possible form of humanity.

Nobody's ever been able to talk any sense into him. He's as set in his ways as a mountain, but at least he's unshakable in his convictions. That's something, even if nobody else can remotely understand the guy's absolute hyperfixation on Path of Exile as Hypercompetitive E-Sport. Best thing to do is generally poke a bit of ideally-harmless fun and move on.
In my opinion PoE2 seems like the first proper multiplayer ARPG release since D2. That's the reason I'm planning to buy a supporter pack. I skipped PoE1, that game wasn't for me.
