Single player game = Early Access
Racing and ladders is the only thing you think makes it multiplayer? Trading, co-op and everything people who aren't sweats actually care about is in and those are ostensibly not singleplayer features

Trading is unnecessary to progress through the game or experience it (the theme park) fully. The only thing co-op and trading does (or helps with) is to get some MTX that comes along with the achievements/challenges in "softcore" mode. Now, how many will notice or care about whatever MTX you're using, especially when the majority will have it as they sink more of their time through the months, and if its for personal satisfaction to "achieve" it, well I already know I would be able to. PoE game formula does not offer a great social experience and I won't go into details why or how that can be improved here, and without offering competitive experience as well, well you have this... A single player ARPG with online tag. |

" POE is not an MMORPG.. it will not be centered in a social experience. For that, go play EVE online where 99% of the game is talking to other people and convinec them to align to your cause. |

So you need a ladder for the game to be considered "online"? What? What about trading and coop? I have almost 2k hours and I don't think I've ever checked the ladder. I don't give a damn if someone does something faster than me, reaches max lvl, kills a boss or whatever.
PoE is not a MMO. This is mainly single-player game with social aspects and coop option. This isn't type of game where you go full big party of people to kill a raid boss. That deosn't mean the game isn't online. Most players don't even care about social interactions outside of trading. |

" Kopogero has a long and storied history of posting roughly weekly about how Path of Exile should be a hypercompetitive esport. One of his primary complaints in other Kopogero threads is that "nobody knows who the best players in Path of Exile are", and this is somehow a deep travesty and tragedy. We are all, as a playerbase, supposed to worship the people who consistently win PoE races as gods among lesser, inconsequential men and treat them as the highest possible form of humanity. Nobody's ever been able to talk any sense into him. He's as set in his ways as a mountain, but at least he's unshakable in his convictions. That's something, even if nobody else can remotely understand the guy's absolute hyperfixation on Path of Exile as Hypercompetitive E-Sport. Best thing to do is generally poke a bit of ideally-harmless fun and move on. She/Her

In my opinion PoE2 seems like the first proper multiplayer ARPG release since D2. That's the reason I'm planning to buy a supporter pack. I skipped PoE1, that game wasn't for me.

@1453R
I've rarely responded to your posts for good reasons, but I'll make an exception. Your opinion or "paint" about me is wrong, but regardless it's entertaining to read what you choose to believe so it helps you feel better in the end. You are wrong because it's irrelevant who thinks what about me, both positive or negative since all becomes ashes and dust through time, including the history that'll slowly be forgotten. I prefer PC's over NPC's as a content preferably to compete for a rank, loot or anything that has meaningful, rewarding value for the majority, but only the most deserving will have. I prefer to compete over cooperate because I'm more free in what I can do or experience within the game, just like in real life for the best gaming exp. Humanity is a long way from having the A.I. tech that would eliminate the need/demand for "online" and "multiplayer" in gaming. I like to compete with PC's because they bring a much better challenge than mobs or NPCs and its also more entertaining when there's tens of thousands who want, but can't and fail to reach that rank/spot that I can. When a game has a great or worthy/rewarding competition it captures more interest, markets and overall twitch viewership. Everyone has their limit and talents and then there's experience, which is why this world is a lot more interesting or special. Last edited by Kopogero#0635 on Nov 26, 2024, 1:46:56 PM

So, to clarify: despite your constant arguments to 'Twitch Viewership', the core of your desire for constant hypercompetition in Path of Exile is...you want to be able to stick it to all the 'Undeserving Plebs' who are not Good Enough(TM) to reach the pinnacle of PoE and thus will never experience the content that Grinding Gear has created specifically and solely to cater to the top one percent of the top one percent.
Uh-huh. Sure. First of all, I don't buy it. You are way too focused on Twitch to not be jonesing for views. Second of all, that's a thoroughly miserable view to take of the game, where everybody wants a thing but only the most h@rdc0r3 Ultracomps will ever be able to claim the thing. Grinding Gear does not do this. Their goal is 'Aspirational Content', i.e. things that are difficult and rare but which anyone playing the game can aspire to. The kind of content that can spur a player to try and improve because getting good enough means they can enjoy that content too. There is no reason to force players to compete for rewards 'only the best' will ever see/obtain when instead you can create rewards that Anyone Who Meets the Bar can vie for. Anyone can aspire to create a build that can challenge and defeat pinnacle content. Will everyone do so? Of course not - but they can try. But in your stated view here they can't even try - only the first ten-odd people or whatever it is to defeat a given challenge get the cookie, and after that the competition is over and there will never be a cookie again. Didn't Win The Competition? You get nothing, even if you can beat the bar. What an utterly miserable way to create a game. She/Her
