It's not free, lmao. No company operates on content for free, and nobody would work for free. It's baffling how many people still do not understand how free to play works. Even other "free" stuff you consume, i.e. YouTube content, is backed up by sponsors in some shape or form. It's not free, it never was, and it never will be.

I have friends who played this game for 100s of hours completely for free. I also played my first two leagues completely free. If its not free for you thats because you have made a choice to buy something

Well... I'm not here to try and sway you, but it just isn't free. Just because your friends didn't pay an entry fee, doesn't mean that someone else didn't for them. Again, the free-to-play model is out there for you to learn about. Though it's rather pointless to complain about it... It is what it is.

If you decide to spend 7000$ on the game and feel like complaining afterwards thats a you problem. I know what a free to play model is and I understand that somebody pays for the game. I have spent ~170$ myself in about 2000hrs of playing the game. Obviously GGG need to make money. If you (not saying you do) feel regret about spending a certain amount of money on a game I'd argue that a large part of the responsibility lies with the person for misspending their money.

Is the monetisation system dangerous for people who are unable to control their spending urges? Maybe, yes. Should the responsibility lie with GGG for that? In my opinion, no.

Did you guys think this through?

I am certain they did. Considering the hype, they are expected to make a metric 4$$Load of money from this. Well deserved, too.

On that note, they're not charging 70 usd for access and you're not paying only for the access, but you get more value for your purchase.

Not a maybe, but a definite yes. It's why they had to add percentages to loot boxes, because governments are slowly catching up and are introducing new laws against online gambling. Adding the odds just circumvents, or rather complies with, the legality of it all, but it does not meaningfully counteract gambling. It's just a (legal) way for companies to continue to exploit gamblers.

I, at some point, noticed that I develop a gambling problem when I actually do gamble, so I stopped buying lottery tickets and loot boxes. And I do not gamble in-game with NPCs. I'm lucky enough to be self-aware of the problem, but gambling addiction is another (serious) matter entirely. They just can't help themselves. Though that's a topic for another time and doesn't exactly fit here.

Edit: Come to think of it, the entire game is just one giant loot piñata.

I'm assuming the angle here is "but but but, you need stash tabs.."
anyway, i have a F2P account that except the character level cap, it can do almost first half of WOW due to level rescaling. It also remove the gold cap too so that not likely run out of space yet

meanwhile POE charge you money for stash tab, which very unlikely to have 4 tab to beat uber elder

So, you like which kind of F2P?
This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. About the username: Did you know Kowloon Gundam is made in Neo Hong Kong?

I havent played to POE since 2015 I think. (started during the beta).

I am super hyped about this game. Cannot wait.

The crossplatform (ps5-pc) + coop couch is incredible.
