Can you brick your atlas in PoE2 by dying too frequently in maps?

"

Now as to the question of can we brick the Atlas i'm certain the answer is no it should have been the first thing questioned when they were discussing the system i'm totally confident of that. However AFAIK they haven't told us yet hows its prevented and like others I want to know.

maybe im misremembering but i think it was asked in the ziggy qna and they said theres a mechanism to stop that, but didnt go into any detail as to what that was?

my memory is so bad now days i cant be certain of stuff like that xD

yep, just check, it's at 2h10 in ziggy video about party member death, but extrapolate in map , but not clear about the issue of this post.

btw mark is clear about : it's 1 live per player per map, the 6 portal here for bring back loot, nothing else.

edit:
the good point of 1 live per map is: you're no more lose half xp lvl after 95 because you go again and again in thinking "comon, wtf...etc"

Well, this is why they call it an OPEN BETA.

My definite plan for atlas after hearing that stream is to test this exact scenario out first. As in, brick all my surrounding nodes on purpose to see if I can lock myself in. If that happens, then "look ma, I've found a bug".

I'd be surprised if it could happen, but hey... what better time to test this, than day 1 of the Open Beta? (well alright.. make it day2 or day3..or week1 I'm unlikely to finish a completely new campaign with completely new bosses and builds on day1)

will they even have a death penalty do you think? theyve said we expect you to die a lot to bosses in order to learn them through the campaign, they seemed to very much go in on the soulslike idea that you learn through death.

stark contrast to the D2 hardcore mode mindset devs that initially built the poe that launched in 2013 where attempting content you might die in was almost a game knowledge failure. you should never die and if you died then you didnt have enough game knowledge to avoid that situation and thats why you were a bad player.

maybe thats not always how they would have framed it but that was essentially the game they made and this is a 180.

so people in feedback have been calling for no penalty for ages. some among them say well map portals are the punishment, why should i lose xp when i have limited portals? to which theres much chortling at the idea that someone should lose something as trivial as a map after dying 6 times inside it. surely if you die more than twice a week somethings dreadfully wrong? 6 times in a map? wtactualf?

but theres an idea there right? what if it matters if you die in a map because of the access to that map? do we actually need xp penalty if that could be significant?

what do we think about the punishment of this mechanic if its a replacement for losing xp?

i think id prefer this, ive always defended xp penalty because i think dying should matter but i do hate it, it does deeply demotivate me and ill often log off if i die and i will sink my mood for a decent amount of time.
Deleted (assumption was incorrect, information on bricking maps is now clear).

for me the xp death penality is "core system of poe" i cannot really imagine this game without.

but this xp lost have no matter before lvl95 so it's not really an issue.

personnaly i prefer have couple of try on a map cause shit could happen and happen in this game. ( i'm a sc player not hc).
(at this point i don't know if poe 2 is the same of poe in terme of one-shot)

and have this red dot on the atlas for "lock map" annoying me ( hope make a nice atlas full of green dot) , but that's my point of view.

here it's more a question about "what happen if..etc" .

btw we'll see soon ^^

The elephant in the room is how poe/2 loves to instantly snipe players.

I expect that on beta test, most deaths are going to happen by a gigamodded rare monster that can't be dodged, moves 10 miles a second.

No safeguard they put in can match their bloodlust.

It is one of the many reasons I'm not going to participate in early access. Have fun though.

yes because they have shown that happening in their marketing material and the people that have actually played the game and made public commentary of their experience have all said that this happen 100% every instance. . .

. . .oh, wait.

You still have SIX portals per map in POE2?

Presumably you have to fail ALL SIX portals to 'brick' a map node?
A single death would be excessively punishing and restrictive (and hard to recover), if you brick a few of the starting nodes.

The types of newer players who fell into that trap would unlikely have the experience (and patience) to dig themselves out of that hole.

no, portals are for moving items out of a map or party play.

you die in a map you fail the map.

answer this evening in qna on twitch , we're able to reset atlas
( lot of info with ghazzytv jhonathan roger)
There is a map reset available according to John and Mark in the post video Q and A. If you absolutely brick yourself you will be able to start over.
